Ohhh...I can't wait.

For those that plan on heading this way on Friday the 12th, IRL is having a test day at Barbers. I copied this from their website:

"The Barber Motorsports Park welcomes the IRL as they bring the IndyCar Series to the Park for an open test session. Come watch the nation’s premier open-wheel racing series as they use the beautiful Barber facility to test new equipment in preparation for the 2008 season.

Come watch IRL stars such as Danica Patrick, Helio Castroneves and Scott Dixon as the series visits the Park for the first time! Gates are open from 8am-5pm. Tickets are just $10 in advance, $15 at the gate. Paddock admission is included."

i think I have decided, that I am going to go early and see what this is all about. I might wake up that morning, pipe the car, pack, and head out. is there a schedule for when they are going to start and stop their testing, just a general time frame type thing?

I haven't seen a schedule. I'm going to try and take off that afternoon and go out there. I would think watching them all day might get old.

Kinda what I was thinking. I want to watch them for a couple hours and wander the paddock a bit, but not all day. Well, unless I was hanging with Danica - but just guessing that is a longshot.
Cool thing is that heading to Bama you pick up an hour. Show up after lunch, watch some practice, wander the paddock, and when it is all over set up some gear and tech the car.

Dang that sucks.

OD would be the only possibility I can think of, but I think he has written this one off.
You can try posting them on the NASA forums in the SE section. (nasaforums.com)

Oh come on. Barber doesn't take much braking. You don't really need good brakes if have a very powerful fast car.

OnRails, Lego, anyone else going, did you guys get your banquet ticket ordered? You can still buy them, I thought I missed out on it, but you can still get one. I think we should all go, and cheer on our TTD Ho.

I've got a question since this is my first NASA event and all groups like different stuff. Do I fill out the Inspection form then present it to the inspector for him/her to look over and recheck, or does the inspector fill it out as he/she goes over it??

Just fill in the top part and sign it.

Hey here is something I missed on my first read through of the supplemental regs:

Driver requirements: LONG sleeved shirts and long pant, closed toed shoes

Well you know how I like to drive barefoot.

The schedule looks good. I think they are switching the HPDE "classroom" sessions to more of a download session format. On Sunday we are on track first and then head to the classroom.

Hey Ya'll. Just wanted to let you know that my father, myself, and Chris Emmanuel will be there this weekend.

We will be bringing the Silver car for Chris (DE1) and me (DE4), and possibly the 63 car depending on how quickly we can get it repaired and in decent shape for my dad to race in the lightning race. If it takes a motor change than he might not race however, just go to break in the new one.

I'm stoked - this will be my first time at Barber, and I love learning new tracks.

Hopefully I will have recovered from working 2 6-hour races at VIR (I was the fire bottle man for Hypersport in the GS race on Sunday as well as our race on Saturday night).

I think we are planning on leaving around 9 am Friday morning, which with no traffic should get us to Barber around 4 or 5 central time (8 hours drive time).

Hope to see everyone there,

Adam Whitener
ROAR Data Analysis dude

P.S. Everyone needs to pick up a copy of the November edition of Super Street magazine and look on pages 94-95. Props to my dad!

they cut us on track time on Saturday. Instead of our usual 4 sessions, we got 3. and they split de3 and 4 up.

but I really do like being done at 3:30 on Sunday, that kicks ***. either way, I can't wait. season finale!

Adam,

You guys working on that parts list you mentioned to us at RR???

We were interested in wheels, tires, center console (the piece that runs down the middle), rotors, pads, coils, mats, carpet, and a few other items folks mentioned.

Sorry to say we haven't gotten around to it yet because last week threw some curve ***** at us in getting the cars ready for the race. Then the cars always come back in bad shape from 6 hour races so this week we might be a little pressed to get the 63 ready for Barber, especially having taken yesterday off to recover.

If we have time we will definitely try and get at least a preliminary list of parts for sale together so we can post it here and bring it to the track with us.

I'm sure we will have time next week to do it if we can't get to it this week.

I fill out the top, check off that everything is done, and just leave them to do nothing but sign it.

OnRails, on the long sleeve shirt thing....I think that has always been there- but never enforced. I haven't read the supps (but I will) - I usually carry one along just in case since.

i would have long sleeves with you just in case, as dano mentioned. It should be mild weather, so it won't be that miserable.

friday, high of 71, low of 47 10% chance of rain
Saturday, high of 73 low of 48
sunday high of 76 low of 52

according to the weather channel. them is good track weathers.
