Need Tranny work in S. FL

Runnin into some tranny troubles on my 8 im at 77k miles now and the 4th and 5th ger are starting to grind when shifting into or out of. Its getting progressively worse esp when shifting at 6K+ rpms.

I went to gunther and made the mistake of not talkin to my normal guy mike the service mgr. I spoke to someone else and explained the issue.

i paid 79 bux for them to "diagnose" the car which all they did was drive it in the parking lot. Now before they even called my waranty company they say i have to pay 800 bux to drop the tranny...i clearly dont have that kind of money to just dump all at once just to have them look at the tranny.

Any one recomend another shop i can look at, i was going to go to lehman but i really dont like their proessionalism.

i really gotta get this done ASAP, any reputable tranny shops that can do work under an aftermarket warranty, or another dealership anyone recomend PLEASE!!!!!!!!

usually it's not worth getting it rebuilt.

you can get a used one for $700. The install of a transmission sounds hard, but if you have a lift and power tools, it takes less than an hour. I watched my local dealership take mine off in about 15 minutes to get to the clutch. It's just a few bolts and the tranny isn't very heavy. You can do it on jackstands if you had to.

i did go to mazda, i said i went to gunther and they are just being so precautious about working on it since i have an aftermarket clutch. They are so stuck on that and are doing everything they can to prove thats the problem.

I kno its not the clutch cause if it was it would grind two specific gears all the time, it would be more sporatic.

mazda wants to charge me 800 bux to drop the tranny and inspect it BEFORE they contact my warranty company which just baffles me...i asked why cant they call 1st, and get the approval and im not getting a straight answer, the guy is obviously lieing to me.

i been under the tranny before, it wasnt really too fun and i really wouldnt like to go that route again. I have a 2k dollar waranty i bought specificly for when i have a problem someone will be there to help, but the dealership is just getting in the way. it sucks. worse case i may have to just buy a used tranny...but how would i know if its good or not?

mazda themselves should be covering the warranty work as they have sent out a notice that the rx8 is suppose to have extended warranty. I would take it to another dealer or start making a really big stink because its most likely the shifter fork is bent and then messed up your syncros... at least this is what I have heard.
