New! Charlotte, NC RX8 Club
Okay folks, we really need a club representing the Queen City.
Possible Features:
-- Meet bi-weekly
-- Travel as a club to BOTD
-- Travel as a group to the Raleigh meets
-- Once we start meeting, we can see what resources we have among us for other things to do.
Possible Names:
-- Queen's RX-8s
-- 704 RX-8
-- CLT RX-8
Thoughts? Anyone want to do this? Who's interested?

I am in too. I have seen a decent amount of 8's out there driving around and I imagine this would be a great way to meet the other owners.

Sam lives in the University Area... I'm over off 485/Providence. Well that's 3 us! lol...
We are definitely going to do this..... Right now, just seeing who is interested. Sam and I decided last week that we would do it, even if it was just the two of us... hah. There's going to be a website, etc. etc....
More details to come!

I live in Monroe. I am up for meeting somewhere. 485 and providence might not be a good area considering what happened with the police bust there a couple months ago. Let me know

i live up near concord but am from south charlotte, used to live right off 485 and providence, used to have experience with that whole crowd that got busted and most of them were idiots and went off racing on westinghouse on the weekends, but there arent many places that will let car guys hang out because of all that, there are a bunch of places around the concord mills. i've actually seen people meeting up in the concord mills parking lot and they didn't seem to have any trouble. south charlotte is good for me, but if everyone wants to meet up around the concord area i could scout out some good places, we should do this soon guys, weekends are pretty much good for me.
hey let me know how that HPDE event goes, i've done a few events down there w/ an s2000 club and the Porsche club, but havnet tried HPDE, i need to go to the track soon, its over due, a heads up for some of you charlotte guys, i think June 2nd or around there, PCA is goin to Lowes motor speedway, from what iv'e heard its turns 2, 3 and 4 of the oval and the infield, i plan on doin it. we should all do a track event together either at lowes or CMP sometime this year, never been out there w/ another rx8

wow - great response to this thread. I do believe we may have a club starting here. Concord Mills will be out of the way for a few, but it will be good for most, plus it's convienient for those north/south of charlotte (say Gastonia & Statesville). We can start there, and always move it around.
I agree - we'll do it soon. Hooters anyone?
btw - Westinghouse - I use to race there but that was in the early 90's. Most problems with those gatherings aren't the racers, but what comes along with the crowd - fighting, drugs, etcc...

i checked out the pca schedule and the lowes track event is july 1st not june.....
oh if your wanting to do Hooters there is one on Independence just a few miles off 485 which is about 15-20 min away from university area and may be somewhat central. But the Hooters near concord mills is pretty stacked w/ girls because its near UNCC. But right next to Hooters near concord mills there is a place called Quaker Steak n' Lube which doesnt have the girls, but its a car themed place w/ some of the best wings i've ever had, in part of it you actually sit under cars ontop of car lifts, its better than hooters in my opinion

also ca18detsilvia, you mentioned that these are open events??? how much do they cost? and what do we need to actually go out and race on them??? I've been dying to do something like this since I got my 8!!!

I am also a big fan for weekends, I imagine this will be best for all... Not to rush anybody through with this, but is anybody available this weekend or next for our initial meeting???

yea you just have to register through the south east porsche club of america. The members get first dibs but some spots are always availible to non porsche owners, they are very strict and organized but it makes for a great time. all you need is a certified helmet pretty much and your car in good working order.

I'm in. Concord Mills area is fine. Quaker State & Lube sounds perfect (Hooters' wings suck, and that's from someone who just moved from right next door to the original one in Clearwater, FL).
So, we have a where.
We're building a who.
Do we have a when?
