Not a bad idea. I come up every once in a while. It's changed since I lived there. What is that big, red monstrosity downtown?? Art or... something? It used to be so much simpler. Now there's a stadium and arena down there. Do they still do river nights on Thursdays in the summer?

So I just got an informal job offer yesterday, that will probably have me moving to TN by the end of the year. Memphis or Nashville are both possibilities, I don't know if one is required vs the other, or if I get my pick, etc...
Nashville is my preference for office location if I get my pick, probably find someplace out away from the city itself. I'm sick of living in or too close to cities. I'd prefer to commute in. I will probably take a bit of a pay cut, but with no car payments, only a bit of credit card debt, and TN's drastically lower cost of living I can get by with less easy.
Any small towns to stay away from? Messy traffic areas that are perpetually bad that I should avoid having to commute through? Odd laws, etc...?

I assume those are recommendations?
My current commute is 20 minutes, my last commute before moving to RI was 17 miles and an hour and a half minimum.
I have no problems with an hour + commute. Especially if it puts me in fun driving roads country Already told my wife that I will happily take a longer commute if it gets me a garage, few neighbors, low crime, and peace and quiet.

A lot of the local rotor-heads are in the Smyrna / Murfreesboro area. Including a rotary shop (open when the owner isn't racing). My personal recommendation would be Smyrna / Murfreesboro. Nice area, not too car ****, middle class in terms of expense, and about 30~45 min from just about anywhere in Middle Tennessee. Smyrna would have less traffic than Murfreesboro due to the Middle Tennessee State University, but it depends on where you get a house in Murfreesboro.
There's my 2 cents
Keep us updated. Be nice to have some more modded rotaries in town.

Heh. "Modded" is a bit of a stretch
Had my 8 3 years, but my first mod was the BHR midpipe put on last saturday. Still have the OEM cat to pass emissions where needed.
Thanks for the tips. I autocross my 8 quite a bit, though I want to pick up a Miata for the same + tracking (and then swapping a Renesis into it), so closer to venues is a bonus, but hardly a deal breaker. Being close to a local shop, especially someone who tracks regularly, would be a bonus worth keeping in mind.

hello everyone, im new to this site, currently live in nashville TN. my g/f has a rx8 which used to be a boost mobile company car whit a greddy turbo kit and many other performance upgrades.
currently the car wont start and we cant figure it out! i was wondering if there was a shop or a forum member that could help out finding out what the problem is... we were getting the valve stock for the intaqke manifold fault code and apparently the car stopped running.
any help that you all can give me would be extremely appreciated! thanks!

I'm new to this site, live in Hendersonville and am having issues with my 2007 RX-8. Initial issue was resolved by changing the spark plugs, but car then began to stall when idling. I've since changed coils and wires, put fuel injection cleaner into the tank, checked the MAF which looks good, but I will be buying cleaner tonight to officially scratch that off my list.
I'm getting CEL codes P0302 and P0171. I'm a female with no engine knowledge whatsoever and I've about exhausted my Dad's willingness to help. Is there anyone who can suggest next steps or anyone nearby who would be willing to take a look at the car for me? Am I to the point of needing to take it to a shop?
Any assistance is appreciated!!
Thanks!
