TN Performance shop in Nashville area?

Well I am a new RX-8 owner and new to the forum. Just picked up my '06' with 23000 miles. Trying to find a good shop around in the TN area. I don't mind a drive but I want to be able to have a great shop to bring the car for the performance and tuning upgrades I plan to do. Any suggestions will help. Also, any suggestions from RX-8 veterans out there? Thanks, Marty

That all depends on what you want done. Be prepared to spend more than $1000 over retail of a turbo ($3000+) if you want a shop to install it, and a lot more if you want to go with stand alone tuning ($1000+ depending on the stand alone unit). I would recommend you have mazda maniac tune your car with an access port, and install the turbo kit yourself. i could give you the name and number of a guy in Nashville that could install the turbo kit for you, but you wouldn't be able to drive it away from his place without a base tune on it, and it would still be drive at your own risk.

Not wanting to turn you off to the idea, but it's recommended that you do it yourself if you have the capacity to do so. You're likely to spend up to or over 50% of the cars total value. I've already got at least $4000 in my engine and I don't even have any kind of forced induction.

Let me know what you're hoping to do, and I'll see if I know who you should call if you choose to go that route.

Well I have the knowledge but my problem is I really don't have the facilities to work on my vehicle man. Simple things like bolt on's I can do, but more advanced stuff like tuning is another story. I'm new to this whole rotary thing so obviously there is a learning curve, but just looking for some place if I end up getting hung up on something or end up over my head. As far as mazda maniacs, what/who are they? Who is this guy in Nashville?

Yep, nick is a good guy.

Vin Auto here in Nashville is also good if you need a rebuild etc. He's raced and built rotaries for... at least 15 years. He's very reasonable on price.

There's also Dan Chadwic from Performance Garage about 20 min south of Nashville. He's raced and built rotaries for more than 30+ years. He's more expensive, but guarantees his work.

Jeff Abrums (Mazda Maniac) does remote tuning using an access port. For sure the cheepest way to tune your car. $600 for the access port and a full tune. He can usually have your car done for the most part with 4 data logs.
