My 2004 has gone through the process of the dealer re-placing my motor with a re-build. The first time I got the car back after the re-build there was a hesitation from 1000 through 1800 RPM's. I took it back and they made some adjustments that seemed to have worked. No more hesitation and the car actually seems a little quicker. Gas mileage seems about the same as I do not monitor my consumption and cannot give specific miles per gallon. I now have 31, 600 miles on the car and have hopes of keeping it to at least 60,000 miles before I consider another RX-8.
My wife said why don't I look at the Subaru after the problems I have had. My answer is that I love the handling and feel of the RX-8 and have no interest in running with any other car. I hear that Chin is coming back to Homestead this July and will have a chance to run my baby the way it should be.
Any others out there that have gone through the engine change and how did it turn out.
