Rotaries at the NC Zoo!

New Photos & Rotaries at the NC Zoo!
Any RX8 owner interested in joining a rotary day at the NC Zoological Park in Asheboro? It is a good day trip from most areas of the state and is an interesting place to spend a day. The challenge would be finding the most interesting route to drive to get there and a chance to knock all the cobwebs out of the rotary.
Sound off if you're interested in doing something like this this fall.

Right now, to give everyone time to check calendars and make plans, looking at the weekend of October 1-2. Sunday would be better for some of the RRDI guys since they work on Saturday. But post up your comments and suggestions and we'll pull something together for that weekend or another if another date seems to be preferable. Let us know what you think. Here is a link to their website: http://www.nczoo.org/
Bobby, you miss this or another RRDI and your membership is seriously in jeopardy:0)!

After seeing your pics you definitely got to bring out that car. What can we do to encourage you to show up at a Drive-In? We'll be at the Char Grill this coming Saturday, the fun starts at 6:30 PM.
It is looking like the first weekend in October seems to work for everyone so far and getting interest from other parts of the state as well.

Hey Bobby, he had a mechanical problem. Did I just miss your smilin' face and shiny silver 8 in the parking lot last weekend? Doug & Beth were there and saved the RX8 crowd, they were the sole reps for 8 world.

Yah!! After a great showing the meeting before (first time the 8's outnumbered them all), we were the only ones this time around. We kinda felt 'abandoned'. :-( LOL!

We're still planning on doing the trip to the NC Zoo on October 2nd. Everyone still up for the drive and the Zoo? Come on by the RRDI this coming Saturday at the Char Grill at 9601 Strickland Road in nawth Rawley to get the latest info and be sure you have the details for the meetup and drive down to Asheboro. Post your comments here if you can't make the Drive-In.

Go ahead Bobby take your best shot. Our cars are over 15 years old and we can still turnout more RX7 FCs than RX8s, HA, HA, HA!!!
Calling all rotary owners, Beth & Doug, Bobby, Lance, Gary and all the rest need your help. They're getting shamed by 15+ year old RX7s. Show your pride and show your ride this Saturday at the Raleigh Rotary Drive-In.

We'll be there. We might have a new member. We ran into (uhm... I meant met) a couple at Fudruckers the other day. They were sporting a nice dark blue FD. Asked him if that was his first rotary. Nope, his third. Game him one of your RDDI business cards and told them to meet up with us this Saturday. I know, not helping the 8 population any, but another rotary fan is always welcome.
See you guys on Saturday.

Come to the Drive-In tomorrow and we'll make the decision on time to depart and location to meet up. I was thinking about Briar Creek or somewhere in Cary since we'll probably be taking 64 west to Asheboro.
I have you down for 2 XL RRDI short sleeve T-shirts, is that right? I'll also confirm everyone's order at the DI and account for GRR deposits from last year.
I like the smog meter strategy.

Rotary Rendezvous at the Zoo
The ticket prices as posted here: http://www.nczoo.org/tickets/
are $10 for adults, $8.00 for students, and $6.00 for children. Go to the above URL for any questions or information you need about the NC Zoo.
I think we ought to call this the "Rotary Rendezvous at the Zoo". The RRDI group will meet at 0730 or 7:30 AM at the Cracker Barrell in Morrisville for breakfast or 8:30 AM at the Caribou Coffee shop in Briars Creek Shopping Center for those that don't want to enjoy a great breakfast the the fellowship of your rotarian brothers and sisters but still want coffee to wake up. Doug said he'd come up with some interesting back roads to drive on the way to Asheboro.
Here are some pictures from the NCZP:
The plan is to meet rotary owners from other parts of the state at this central location; have an early lunch in Asheboro around 11:00 AM; then head out to the Zoological Park. The NCZP closes at 5:00 PM so everyone will have plenty of time to find their way home and do some back road driving afterward.
All are welcome and encouraged to get outta the house that day and get a caravan together from your area and head to Asheboro. Besides the rotaries need the excercise and you might enjoy the Zoo also.

Bert,
I figure the best way to go is to just head out in the general direction of the zoo along the backroads, pick out anything and everything that looks interesting on the map, and when the time comes, just make a bee-line to the zoo.
There are literally hundreds of back-road streets along the way. Attached image is a screen capture of the roads near the zoo. The little red square in the upper left corner is where the zoo is located.
We can take a better look at breakfast when we meet up.
See you then.
