"RX8's of Florida"........Florida members please read

Alright everyone, Randy (Razpewton) and I have finally come up with the idea and organization of the club.
The name will offically be "RX8's of Florida", we will offer free membership to anyone in Florida that wants to join. We have also registered our club (RX8's of Florida) into a club named First Coast Car Council. We may now attend meetings, show our cars in events, vote and run for office. They will also endorse our events and help support our efforts with respect to charities, should we ever decide to do a fund raiser.
Please check the MazdaNOW Website to find a copy of their newsletter.

As more members register we will begin putting together a newsletter similar to this one on a monthly basis. We will feature members cars, give the treasury update, show lists of new members, and ESPECIALLY give information about upcoming meets. etc... All this will be provided free of charge. And you will see the first RX8 CLUB OF FLORIDA NEWSLETTER June 1st.

You will also see upcoming updates to the MazdaNOW website. There will be a CLUB page where there will be a list of current members, a copy of the newsletter, and most important a SIGN-UP PAGE. When we make the announcement the website is updated, we will need everyone to go to the site and register as a member.
As a registered member you will recieve an electronic copy of the newsletter each month as well as be eligible for many upcoming benefits.

For all the prospective members: We need ideas for a logo as well as any input you may have to help this club become a very organized and exciting club to be a part of.

To everyone that would like to Join, WELCOME. And I hope that we can see this club grow over time and become a competitor with some of the best clubs in Florida.

If you have any questions comments or problems please feel free to PM me so that we can keep this thread free from negitive discussion. I will be happy to discuss anything in a private setting.

Thanks everyone!!!!

James
BlueGrimRX8

P.S. to get an idea how many people like this idea, please reply to the Poll above.

Why should I have to limit my feedback to only positive? Feedback is feedback.. I am just speaking my mind and explaining my vote.

If you want only positive feeback, maybe you should change the poll to reflect only the answers you wish to see.

Thanks.

Ok, my apologies for wording that wrong, can we limit the feedback to helpful feedback, if you don't like organization how can we change it so that it would be more of something you liked and would like to be a part of. 4 words doesn't help me understand what you don't like about it.

So is the club just for RX-8 owners? Or is anyone or just rotary?

well, im in of course....but i was kinda hoping for a 8-only kinda place....this place already has lots of 7's and thats all good. i met a lot of 7 owners and have nothing against them personally.

but is there anything wrong with having a subdivision or spinoff from here that is strictly 8's?

just my opinion

I think most of us RX-7 guys (any generation) see RX-8's and think "Sweet... its rotary" like a rotary brotherhood almost whereas most RX-8 guys just see RX-8's.

I mean, do most of you even care when you see an RX-7 whether its 1st, 2nd, or 3rd?

That's the "general" feeling I get from the RX-8 community. I know no offense is meant, just seems to be a stronger rotary following with the 7 generations. I may be way off base so please don't take offense with me.

I think an RX-8 exclusive club is great. Just don't forget about all of us LOL. We all wanna drive our cars and have fun too...Orlando was a BLAST with all you guys there. I think the RX-8 movement is awesome and I know lots of us 7 guys want to be in on the excitement.

I also think its awesome that its FREE!

I see rx-7's all the time and always think which gen it is.. I like the older RX's too I always wanted one and my buddy had a 93 (ish) that he let me drive.. There's a red FC in my apartment building that I'll talk to the owner about whenever I see him!

I spoke with an older lady the other weekend because I saw she had a titanium 8 in her driveway, she had owned an FB and an FC in the past and now she owns an 8.. very cool I thought.

I thought Orlando was great too! However, I still don't see the need for a club. Maybe that's just me. I don't like to wear watches either. Too confining.

Well,
I applaud your efforts to form a club. It truly seems to be alot of work, and you guys are doing a good job at it. Depending on how it all pans out, I may join later. I didn't vote no .

I just hate to be saddled with anything even resembling responsibility. I know it's a free club and all, but even just attending meetings and voting is too much for me.

I hope that even if we don't join we can come to events from time to time? Even if you charge non-club members more for event charges, that would be cool!

I will not be joining. I still think the idea of an 8's only club is a little redundant. And don't tell me you want to be unique to the specific car when you talk about being part of the First Coast Car Council and being the only 8 there.

Comparing a PT Cruiser in with the Corvette club doesn't hold up either. My boss is big into Corvettes and at their meets are 60's era Stingrays, regular Corvettes, Corvette Z06s. Models from every year and style. They include all generations of the car. It is not a Z06 club or a Stingray club.

I'm not saying don't start a club. I am just stating my reason for not joining and that your logic for an 8's only club is a little off. I'm not saying the MRCCFL is the cat's *** either. I am not a member there and don't know too much about them. It just seems like y'all are trying to re-invent the wheel.

Personally, I don't get excited about FBs or FCs. Never have. FDs on the other hand...whoa baby. I might trade my wife for one of those. Anyway, I think an -8 club sounds cool. Don't know how many events I'll be making since I live up here in the "cat's ***" of Florida; plus i like to summer in exotic middle eastern locations where the weather is warm and the people are oh-so-friendly...but we'll see...

Not to rain on anyones parade but...

I don't think we should have a RX8s of Florida club.

What's the point of joining it? I also see it as redundant, but beyond that... I see the people organizing this club are mostly in North Florida. Now then how many events in Tampa do you really think I will attend? How many will be in Miami? Will you attend?

Florida is way to large to have a Florida club.

Now an RX8s of North Florida Club, Central Florida Club, South Florida Club, Panhandle Club, and Gulf Coast club would be better suited to our state.

...but then do we really need that many clubs?

Oh and as to the question about how many RX8 owners react when they see an RX7? I only react to the FD, I've always loved it even before buying a rotary. Now that I own a rotary though, I've jumped on the bandwagon and "glance towards the others". I wouldn't care if the club was only RX8s or any Rotary... Hell, I wouldn't care if there were a few 6s, 3s, Miatas, and MS cars.

Hi guys...........miss me???? I have been so involved with major house renovations since the beginning of May I haven't even had time to go online and do anything but the most important stuff - which unfortunately in this case was business and house, business and house. But - I'm back and I just registered for the club and I'm hoping to find time now to do some fun RX-8 stuff. Even get my car to the car wash and shine up those wheels. It'll take me a few days to catch up on the threads and see what's going on. I'll be heading up to Gainesville in Aug. but I don't think I can make the Ocala meet since I'll be going up the following week to move my son back to UF and can't make the trip twice. Hope to see all you guys soon. Anything happening in Palm Beach County?????
