Re: Ordered.....
Their report says they have 4 coming mid-july via Jacksonville. A Velocity Red, Black Leather, MT, GT is one of them and it is still not assigned/pre-sold to anyone. Also, a yellow/black, MT, GT, (might also have Nav, I forget). Two Tit Greys, I forget trans, GT, Nav are also available.
Alas, my config. was not one of the 4, so, mine already has a VIN number, expected delivery says mid August, but I won't really believe that until I get further proof. I'm waiting on a reply from Fubar in the main VIN sticky thread, "RX-8 Discussion" forum...
They're of course not budging from MSRP. They're also insisting on an interior/exterior treatment @ $479. I might could have insisted not, but I thought it was probably a good thing & didn't.

Hello Racer X-8,
I'm also from SC. My cars is coming to John Finger Mazda in Greenville SC. I didn't make the first boat so I a waiting for the second boat to arrive at the end of July. I know the boat left so I am not sure your car would have made it. I haven't seen a car with that high a VIN built yet. Sorry for the bad news, then again I could be wrong.
My car has been sitting in Japan of a month waiting for shipment. Finally it lists as on water. They are expecting it to arrive in mid august at the dealer. Good luck.

Yep, I sent an email to rx8orders@mazdausa.com , which is an address I found somewhere in this forum. They replied real quickly to my suprise. Here's the reply...
Hi Bill and Sallie,
I appreciate the opportunity to respond to you.
In regards to your e-mail, I am delighted to hear that you decided to
order an all-new 2004 Mazda RX-8. Your VIN, JM1FE173X40106429, shows a
production date of 6.25.03, and ETA is yet to be determined. Please
understand that you will not receive build status e-mails unless the
dealership changes the vehicle order to pre-sell, and inputs your
information to the vehicle. I would be happy to give you updates, if
you'd like to check in from time to time.
Best regards,

Nice reply, but don't really like the prod. date of 6-25-03 & no ETA.
I wonder if prod. date is beginning or completion of production?
Anyway, I'm certain it even missed that 2nd boat, so that tells me that mid-August is unrealistic. I can wait, just a bummer though...

Hello Tracy! Charleston, huh? OK!
Uh, I have no problems with your recent acquisition. Congrats! Have you posted pix somewhere yet? What's the color & options that you got?
Tracy, check your private messages...
VVVVV.....For others out there reading this.....VVVVVV
I was misinformed about my dealer's first 4 cars. Last weekend, they still had the yellow one for sale @ MSRP + $1000. It's MT/GT. Come - n - get it! (I don't think it has nav.) Got some other markups though, like something I think they call a "chrome kit". Not sure what that is, but I know it has the threshhold plates for one...

Just wondering if any of the SC guys have their cars yet? I think it would be fun for us to meet up and check out the cars and have dinner or something.
The RX7 club is pretty active around here. One of their members chased me down (literally) the other day to invite me to their meetings. They are held the first Saturday of every month at Shoneys in Orangeburg. So, if there aren't very many 8's around here yet, maybe we could meet up with the 7 guys.
Let me know what you guys think.
Tracy

Who did you talk to at John Finger, I have talked to 3 different guys up there and they were all morons about the RX-8 and typical salesmen which I can't stand.

I went to Fairway in Anderson and bought mine. John Finger salesman couldn't remember what I said, or wanted from one phone call to the next. I searched MazdaUSA for the color combo I wanted and drove to Anderson and bought it.

I"m seeing Rx8's all over Charleston now. For about a month after I bought mine I didn't see any others. In the last three days I've seen a red, titanium and a blue driving around. I didn't think I would like the titanium grey but it is beautiful in person!

Hey Tracy... Mine's red, but it hasn't seen Charleston yet...
Wray Mazda here in Columbia has a bunch now. I've been stopping by there every Friday for months now. I guess they wonder if I'll ever get a life.
9 days ago, they just recieved a bunch & I got my first look at a blue & a green. Both nice btw. I counted 10 of them & I might have missed a few. 2 days ago, I saw my first aeroflare/front air dam/rear wing 8 in black. Also nice. Still had maybe all of what I saw the week before that.
They took off the $1000 over msrp crap, back down to msrp. I'll bet right now, you could haggle for less.

That one looks like Nordic Green to me. Wasn't it? Tracy's is black & I think she's getting Mazda to buy it back. I read a post of hers in another thread that surely does sound like it. (Afraid to drive it for fear of damage before the buyback...like that...) Too bad.

Yeah. I think it is. Last week, I was at the dealership & waited about an hour to talk to my salesman. They have 2 of the Nordic Greens & I sat facing one for what seemed to be an eternity. Got real familiar with them that way. Just too dark for my tastes, however, they are nice in their own way. The mica surely does help.

Yep, it wasn't me. I was driving my rx7 when I spotted the titanium. As stated above, I don't drive the 8 much as I have opted for the repurchase from Mazda.
Congratulations on your beautiful car!

I got a speeding ticket in your state on Saturday. a-hole SC cop pulled me over, even though I was driving between two other cars going the same speed. He said he pulled me over b/c I had a temp tag, and was going 78 in a 60. $150 ticket ... at least I don't have to show up in SC court.
I was on I-85 south, just before Greenville, on my way back to Atlanta from Charlotte.

I am from Campobello, SC, which has a population of about 200. It is exit 5 on I26 and is on SC Hwy 11. I got mine from Vic Bailey, would have gone John Finger but Vic gave me a better price and the trips to get it serviced are much quicker.
