I have to agree with MX-5...There are very few FWD cars on the planet that I would call a competative autocross car. I am affraid the GTI is not one of them.
The following is a list of cars available in the U.S. that I would consider competative FWD autocross cars...
Mini S
Chevy Cobalt SS
Integra R/Acura RSX
Mazdaspeed 3/Protoge
I am not mentioning the VW Golf R32 since its AWD. This is the only Golf I would consider competative on a national level but to be honest you get way more out of a Subi or Evo. I could be wrong.

Right now the Mini has the cheapest cost of entry (Car and tire price) and pays the highest at Tours and Pros. Besides that I can't see driving around town with a bulb out somewhere... every VW I see has a bulb out somewhere.

Its not that simple...He can only do so much depending on the class he is racing in. In other words if he starts to perform mods to the car he will be forced in another class and STILL won't be competative without spending an eye, leg, and maybe a kidney to mod the car into contention.
So I can understand his dilema.
Fortunately and unfortunately for myself I plan to race in STU class and that means I have a long list of modifications to make before I will be able to be competative.
I know what your going to say MX-5...why not save my money and stay in BS (B-stock) as I can use R-compound tires and its much cheaper/easier to be competative? Well, its simple I'm stubourn and I want to go faster... . Besides I hope I can compete on a national level some day/year and this way it puts more preasure on me to get it done with a quickness.

I thought I saw your car but I was not sure. I said hello to Alex and my friend Joel but I did not know anyone else.
Anyways, I hope we find a place soon! Untill then I may have to go to the ones up north.

12/80 or 12/79, I also run a 13/81, depends on whats available. I run it but I dont race it considering I go thru a set of tires, sprockets and chain. I spend about $300 each time I go.

I have problems with my left leg with depth perception. A shifter kart would be a little involved for 3 limbs. I have 2 karts, 1 rotax and a newer Toni kart with a vortec rock. I havent run the Toni yet at morrosso because im in the middle of converting it to use handlebars.

Yea, thats why I was asking, it gets realy tight for a kart going ***** out. Some of those turns are less then 2 cars wide, im thnking alot of E braking. Unless they open the track in different routs then the normal track. If not I see alot of cars hitting the grass and theres a nasty hill on the right side of the turn comming back onto the first strait out of the turn. I meen a car could get totaled.

I looked into it today to sign up and it looks like a school or somthing. Cam wanted to take out our miata with a 13b and I was going to see how well I could do in my 8. We Emailed them to see if we can confirm whats going on. If its on were going to be there.
