Alright guys for the last few days My car has been making a faint chirping sound. All I know is that it's coming from the front of the car I do think it is the engine bay. the car only chirps at low speed 15-30 maybe 45mph any faster than that I get nothing. At first I figured it was because I don't have my splash guard an fender liner. but, i was wrong if i let off the gas pedal it stops I did some searching on here the last two days and another guy had the same issue. He also has a 05 A/T. Someone said do a compression test any of you have any other ideas?

Thumbs up Saturday the 14th?

How about the 14th of Nov? If we go long than that we are getting close to Thanksgiving.

If others think they will be down for that. I will start working on it tomorrow and maybe post something on other mazda forums . Try to make it an all out Mazda meet

CEL flash indicates a misfire. Change your coils. The chirp? I would have to ride with you to try to figure that out. A start and and then no start I believe could be your starter. How old are your coils/starter?

If you don't mind bringing ur scanner with you friday that would be great.

Kris idk how ony of the parts are under hood when I took it 20000 miles back the said the plugs were new. I asked about all the tsb's so its the upgraded starter as for coils an spark plugs/ wires no clue so it may be time to replace

a lil hasty on replacing arent ya!?!?!

the chirp can be so many things... how are your belts? better yet whats the mileage on the car?

when does it chirp exactly, when the transmission changes gears? or just when accelerating? be a bit more specific.

as for flashing CEL, typically that would be a misfire but that can be caused by lots of things too. First you want to make sure your spark plugs are good. You never want to just take someones word for it or just assume they are fine based on how long you have had them. you can easily check them by taking the driverside wheel off and reaching back to the plugs.

In your case you can just walk under there with a flashlight and check em out.

Jeremy pic a date to bring the car over and we will check everything. I'll have RWD come too. I'll pull the plugs and coils and make sure they are in good shape. Then drive the car to see what all this chirping is about. Maybe you hit a bird and it's still alive in there.

Hasty? No not this time the cel flash happen 2 weeks ago I've been doin a little homework this one an eveything I read is quick to say "replace coils, plugs, and wires I haven't done that because the car starts up just fine the idle doesn't feel rough I believe 750 rpm is normal. So I really didn't plan on a full tune up until next month. As for the chirp I did look for a birds nest in my driver side fender came up empty.

As for the chirping I hear it when I accelerate between 15-30 mph sometime I'll still hear it at 45-50 mph if I let off of the accelerator it stops the reason I don't think it my belts is I should hear it as soon as I start up or even at idle when I'm stopped at a light. The chirp I hear is real faint to hear it I need to turn the radio an A/c off an listen for it

Kris weekends work best for me but I'll leave the day an time to you since ur gonna be CRAZY busy with your baby coming home so just let me know

Reset your ecu/fuel trims and see if it still chirps. - I have used both, but mainly the second one.

There are two reset procedures, one for the NVRAM and the other for the KAM. Neither will erase your radio presets and such like the method SpooledUp7 posted:

1) With the key in the off position, press and hold the odometer reset button and turn the key to on;
Continue to hold the odo button until the odometer reads "TEST" and then release.
2) Turn the key to off and repeat step one.

or

This will reset the entire PCM except the KAM which contains the sensor profiles amongst other things. You can reset it with the familiar procedure:

1) Turn the key to on
2) Depress the brake pedal rapidly 20 times in a row until the oil pressure gauge sweeps to halfway and back again.

just because the car idles fine doesnt mean that the plugs, coils, and wires are fine. You still SHOULD look at them and see how they are. look inside the wires tips and check the plug tips. these are places to start. If you dont start somewhere then you will just scratch you head saying, "maybe its time to replace"
