Tampa Drive Along
I would like anyone who is not apart of our local board (www.flrx8club.net) to participate in a drive along on DEC 8th through Pasco county just north of Tampa Bay..
Ok everyone… it looks like we have a real exciting route planned… it will take us about 1.5 hours to get from the meeting spot to the restaurant and then 1.5 hours back its about one tank to do the whole route…
The rules of the meet… THIS WILL NOT BE A RACE… instead it will be a spirited drive through the country to enjoy some curves, scenery, and friends/ club members. The goal is to have a good time without any bad incidences…
1. there will be no excessive speeding. the leaders of the packs will be setting the pace, please do not try to convince or pester them into going faster.. IT WILL NOT HAPPEN
2. Stay a minimum of 3 car lengths away from the car in front of you
3. there will be no passing
4. we will not leave anyone behind. the last person will be responsible for letting the leader know that they have been separated from the group
5. there will be no stopping suddenly on the side of the road unless there is some version of a mechanical failure, in which you will need to let the leader of the pack know
6. keep your headlights on so that the leader can keep track of his group
7. Use your blinkers so everyone can anticipate turns
8. use your brakes so that no one misjudges someone down shifting
9. if you see a cop tap the brakes three times quickly in succession to warn people behind you
10. stay in the right lane so that traffic can pass us at will if they feel uncomfortable
11. make smart decisions while driving, people will be following you so allow yourself to be visible to the people behind you
12. there will be no weaving in between traffic
13. if the group is broken up the larger group will slow down or pull over in a safe spot for the smaller group to catch up
14. do not be impatient with traffic give them as much respect as you feel you deserve
15. HAVE FUN
So the break down of the day:
9:30 meet in the Kmart parking lot
Make sure you are all fueled up, there are a three gas stations at the meeting point Chevron, Radian, and a Marathon… if you prefer other fuel please come filled up.
Get something to drink and snack on
Meet everyone and take a few pictures
10:00 promptly we will be leaving from the parking lot and beginning our trek through the twisties in Pasco.
10:45- 11:00 we will stop to refuel (Hess station), use the bathroom, get some drinks, and let the car cool down.
11:30-11:45 we will be stopping for food at the end of the route
1:00- 1:30 leave to head back through the route or head back home via 75… your choice..
You should be leery of ingesting any alcoholic beverages as these meets can take a lot out of a driver. I am not saying you cant but just be responsible.
3:00- 3:30 people who drove back through the course head home
This will be the basic schedule that we will be trying to adhere too. Please arrive on time and ready to go because as you see we have a busy day…
I would suggest everyone bring and or check:
two way talk abouts… if you don’t have them they are about 20 bucks at any electronic stores
tool kit for any minor repairs
oil
a spare tire if you have one
make sure that you have the tire inflation kit mazda provides
check over all your fluids before you leave for he meet
check air pressure in all your tires before you leave
as for caravan points I will suggest we break them into three spots
Pinellas spot which will be located in the Bally’s parking lot on the corner of ulmerton and 19… we will be meeting there at 7:45 and leaving at 8:15
The Orlando group is being organized by mazda mike and crew
We need someone to head up the North Tampa crew any volunteers?
If you would like to attend please post on here and on our local board http://www.flrx8club.net/forum/viewt...?p=49106#49106
