how fast do you get up to thru there? on my r1 i get to the end of fourth gear (roughly 140's) before i drop to third to go over the hill under the bridge. Just curious as a comparison. Also how fast do you get down the straight by the tree? Last year I saw 173 on my bike thru there. after the speedo correction i was going about 162 or so

I am assuming that you are talking about the back stretch that connects the north and south course. I was curious about on the north course by the oak tree at the start finish line.

Honestly, I have no idea of what oak tree you speak of. The only one I know is in the south course...the start/finish line is up near the north paddock area and I don't remember seeing trees there.

Zack and fellow North Carolinians, "GINX" here, Havelock, NC. I am stationed out here on the East Coast of NC at Marine Corps Air Station, Cherry Point. There are about 7 or 8 RX8s that I past and "honk" at on a regular basis around here. I am not sure as to how many of t hem are actual members on this site.
I can be reached at drginx@hotmail.com if you need to contact me or leave me a message here on site. It would be nice if we could meet up somewhere in the area and just hang out and "chit chat" have a great time. I drive a Black Unmodified Grand Touring '06.
Let the "party" begin!

Also, if you're ever in the Raleigh area hit my crew up...North Carolina Rotaries
And another shameless plug for a great event:
Mazda Days is returning to GT LIVE at Virginia International Raceway October 6th and 7th 2007.
The NC Rotaries car club is preparing to make this the best Mazda meet on the east cost. To do that we need LOTS AND LOTS of Mazda cars to show up. We will have a parking area in the paddock to show our cars again this year and we hope to have a huge turnout! Follow this link for registration, fill out the form and choose Mazda Days to have a parking pass waiting for you at the VIR gates. Also, this year we have discounts! You can use the promo code 'WIBOB' when buying your tickets online to get you $5 off a weekend pass, or $2 off a one day pass. Motorsports at a discount... mmmm mmmm good. The code is multi use, so feel free to distribute it as you wish.
GT LIVE has a blockbuster content lineup planned. Grand Am will be back with hot sports car racing during two six hour endurance races and this year you'll be able to see Tarzan Yamada take the wheel of an ICY/Phoenix Racing Subaru Legacy 2.5GT spec.B to battle it out with the US boys. Redline Time Attack will make its debut at VIR and we anticipate a huge car count. On the drift side, the Falken Tire Drift team will do pro demos and give rides and US Drift will thrill us with another competition. Our Rally-X will expand a bit thanks to some support from Subaru and the XDL US Stunt Riding Championship returns. As always, there are tons of ways to get involved in GT LIVE, starting with go karts, rides in the GT Sim Race, the aforementioned drift rides, lap time in your own car in Tarzan's Lap Battle and last but not least, one of our many meets.

Hey tater.. Im in Wilmington. I have a friend with a yellow in Jacksonville as well.
Guys,Im with rrdi.org Thats the website for NC Rotaries, we have had a few beach meets down in Carolina Beach. If any of you are interested I can look into setting up another beach meet although the meets we do up in Raleigh are much better because we have Gary.. and Gary knows how to find fun roads!
