who all is from NC here
#901
I am not sure if I have introduced myself on this thread. So I just got my 8 a few months ago. I have already met topgear8 at an autocross event at Knight's Stadium.
I technically live in SC, but I work in Charlotte, and really only do anything in NC. I hardly venture further south of my house, ha ha, which is right across the boarder.
A few of the cars I have seen around here are the blue 8 with NTO3 enkeis when I had my 240, a gray 8 with some black wheels and polished lip going down 485 on my way home from work. Also a gray 8 with Stance coilovers silver rpf1s and a torn off exhaust that came in to work.
Hope to meets more of you sometime soon.

If you live in Charlotte, there is no reason to. Everything shuts down if there is a hint of snow, so there is no place to go anyways.
Personally I would not bother. I have driven my old 240s with open diffs around here when the weather was not very nice and didn't have issues. You just have to take it easy. I just can't justify spending the extra money on something that I would barely use. Plus I don't think snow tires would make a difference on ice, as that is what we usually get around here, no nice thick snow, just sheets of glassy ice.
Of course I have never had any experience with snow tires so maybe it is a good idea.

I live in Raleigh and I use performance summer tires all year around, as said above, if it snows or ices all businesses are closed and it is may be for couple of days in the season. If you are worried, just get some good all season and u'll be good for the weather here. Just drive sensibly when it is slippery.

Just got stationed in Fort Bragg. So i have no idea what there is even to do around here and doesnt seem like there is too much of a car scene besides all the impala's and luminas on 26's!

I'm new and thought I'd give a shout. I'm out of Wilmington. I was wondering if there were any other members close by and how the RX8 handles long road trips, I'd like to get to Deal's Gap and Central NC where it seems most of everyone is.

Head over to NCRX8CLUB.com a lot of fellow NC owners. We do serveral runs a year and try to make it out to the dragon when we can. About every other month we do a drive somewhere in the state.

Just drove Chun-Li up to Brooklyn, NY and back mother's day weekend (~1400 miles RT), and it was a blast. Well planted, well behaved, comfortable everywhere but NYC itself, and I got 26mpg on my way there . It's great for road trips, so long as you don't have anyone in the backseats

Welcome! I'm out of Wilmington, I'm here during the summers. Hope to see you around, I'm blacked out, lowered stock wheels. I'll flash when I see an 8. Be on the look out!

Lol. Nice. Well you will see me hit up Starbucks at the Mallard Pointe location more often now since I moved back from Greensboro. So if I see a car that meets your description I will make an educated guess that its you driving... :D
