Spent some time Tuesday changing all of my coils and doing the dewall of the stock intake box, since I don't have a CAI. The car runs so much smoother than before, mostly because of the coils, but the intake mod combined with my exhaust gives a lower more throatier sound. I thought I wouldn't see much of a difference but I was pleasantly surprised. Next small little project is the plastidip after seeing Ryan and John's emblems.
Vids please....I'm a sucker for those revs!! I plan on the Racing Beat exhaust but I'm up for other choices.

I've got the Racing Beat Cat back and I absolutely love it!

We got solid details for this weekend?

are we meeting Sunday or Saturday? either or is good for me. A couple of days ago I bumped into a new 04 Black GT owner and he's been looking for fellow drivers. I told him about this weekend and he's pretty excited to meet you guys.

I only have the cat back so I dont have a problem with CEL. also mine is the dual tip. personally I think it looks better than the single even though its smarter to go with the single exhaust

You're not gonna have a problem with CELs unless you delete the cat or mess up the O2 sensor or something like that. Although John has the Cobb so I'm assuming thats he how keeps from getting the CEL. Correct me if i'm wrong John And I've got the old Greddy SP2 system catback. And for any of you guys who have the stock intake box I'd highly recommend dewalling it. Like I said it gives the slightest amount of deeper noise (good noise) and it makes shifting and revving under 2500 rpm much smoother. No idea why but it does. And also if you end up doing it, your idle might be rough for maybe 100 miles or so but the MAF and ECU and all that stuff have to re-recognize airflow and adjust.

Don't worry about the ECU reset. It's more of a pain to do than its worth.

Yep! My custom tune from MazdaManiac blocks the code my catless midpipe produces. I love it because I don't need to switch the stock cat in for inspections. Just have to raise the car so it gets on the lift for inspection.....

There are baffles and other sound deadening material in the stock box to decrease the sound produced by the intake. Removing those will make it louder and might give a very slight power gain.

Noon is fine for me. Im not sure why a CEL would pop up. Removing the baffles shouldn't do that. Maybe you accidentally did something else in the process? Get the code checked out.

I hope more of us could commit to meeting up tomorrow.

everything is connected fine. I probably should go get the code checked. but the battery light did turn off. I made a trip out to the beach. not really sure if I notice a difference in performance but its for sure louder

Yeah it's not really going to do anything for performance. More for sound than anything. I messaged a few others to see if they want to come out. Haven't got back with me yet, but I am hoping for more people this time as well.

I obviously wasn't looking for a power gain but maybe smoother shifting in lower rpms like others are claiming.

So i just took the car out on a trip to wrightsville. The light turned off shortly on my way back. I might be tricking myself, but maybe I feel a difference. feels smoother. or at least i like to think its smoother. but i love the noise it produces.

It's your butt dyno haha. It may have done somthing to make it smoother. Supposedly removing those baffles increases airflow through the box so it is possible..

Nice little meet up today guys. Old Maple Hill Rd was definitely all it's hyped up to be. Great back road, just wish it was a little bit closer. Ok guys, I know royalfitz and I will be attending the next cars and coffee next Saturday. Who else wants to show up and represent for us 8 owners?!
