GA SOLD 2006 Mazda RX-8 in Metro Atlanta

114k miles, factory engine. Upgraded starter. Plugs replaced a year ago. Compression tested at Mall of Georgia Mazda Jan 4 and the front rotor was at a "C" grade and the rear rotor an "A". Starts up without issue hot or cold. It's located in Cumming, GA. Asking for $3000.

Engine runs fantastic, but does idle a bit rough when hot and occasionally throws a check engine light. Check engine light is usually due to running a BHR catless midpipe. Midpipe is resonated and sounds very stock and not obnoxious at all. Still smells pretty obnoxious. I decatted to run premix combo of around 3oz synthetic 2 stroke and 1 oz of Lucas fuel injector cleaner per 10 gallons. I will include my marked up bottle for premixing. I did pass emissions without the cat back in September, but I make no guarantees that it will pass emissions for you. Have stock cat midpipe that can be sold with the car for $300. It worked fine when installed and looks clean and had no check engine lights when installed. There is also a rare misfire code when running above 75 or so at steady speed. I think this is due to a dirty crank sensor, but I've never felt anything that felt like a misfire and it doesn't even trip the cruise control when flashing. [Edit: I think I fixed this by cleaning up the spark plugs as they had gotten a bit oily. After cleaning, the issue has not recurred. I'm dialing back the premix as a result] The battery is a bit weak and needs to be on a trickle charger if it's not run once a week or so.

The clutch was replaced with an Exedy OEM replacement summer last year along with a new clutch master and slave cylinder. Hamby's Automotive in Forsyth County installed it. I've done oil changes every 2k or so since I bought the car, mainly based on time because I've put few miles on it. I've run 5W-30 non-synthetic brand name oil. Coolant was flushed and diff fluid replaced when I bought the car 8k ago and transmission fluid was replaced with the clutch job. I redid the brakes with new Hawk HPS pads when I bought the car and flushed the brake lines with Prestone synthetic brake fluid. Rotors looked in good shape. Front and rear tires are different brands, but decent tread left. They are from previous owner and they've been fine for street driving. Rims are stock and in decent shape.

On to the body. The car is what I've been told is Nordic Green, but it looks more blue to me… There is some noticeable body damage from the previous owner down the passenger side and the skirt is missing on that side. There is a large dent with paint damage behind the rear half door, but it doesn't affect the door operation or anything really. Also some scuffs and scrapes down that side. The front and driver side look good considering the age. The trunk has faded paint and iffy clear coat remaining. The roof has even more faded paint and flaking clear coat. I did a bit of sanding and installed a DIY vinyl wrap of a Japanese flag for Mazda pride. I burnt a bit of the vinyl in the back of the roof and stuck some go fast stickers to cover it up. No guarantees of extra HP from the stickers. The vinyl can all be peeled off, but the paint underneath isn't great. I have pictures of the pre-vinyl condition.

Some mods on the outside, I added LED running lamps in the location where fog lights were a factory option. They really help with visibility at night. They come on when the key is in the ON position. I also did a headlight restoration which really improved visibility at night. The previous owner did a headlight restoration badly before and there are scuffs around the headlights where they didn't mask or masked poorly. The oil cooler and condenser I covered with black metal mesh riveted in place to prevent road debris damage. The AC works fine but it does struggle to blow cold when at idle on hot days. The inside is in OK shape. Cloth seats are comfy. There is a tear in the upholstery on the driver seat bolster where it wears from getting in and out. There is a small burn mark in the rear seat. The interior trim is in worn, but OK shape. Passenger airbag cover on dash is cracked, but it's an RX8 and that's what they do. The plastic in the back rattles pretty good owing to the previous owner having ridiculous subs in the back. I removed all the amps and wiring and replaced the rear speakers with Pioneer 6x9s that are more reasonable. I attempted to use some foam to dampen some of the rattles. It works up to a certain music volume. The trunk is pretty barren. Pretty sure it's missing some trim and stuff to make it look nicer that was ripped out to fit the subs. The radio is an aftermarket Sony Ax100 that has a USB cable that can play from a flash drive or a phone and includes Android Auto/Car Play connection. It also has plain ol FM radio and Bluetooth connection for your phone calls. I installed a backup camera in the rear bumper. It's handy for parking. Backup camera automatically switches on when in reverse and back off after you go to neutral. The stock radio display screen can be customized to your liking using the Metra adapter kit. I like the Zoom Zoom! But you can make it say whatever you want.

Overall, a well running and fun car perfect for spirited weekend drives, autocrossing, or a track toy. Sadly, I haven’t had time for the RX8 as I also have an NA Miata that tends to be my go to fun car.

Vinyl roof panel. Japan pride and some zoom zoom.

Ouchie from previous owner. Doesn't affect door operation.

Miles will go up slowly as I do still drive it occasionally.

Android Auto / Car Play

Clear coat on trunk is about done. Roof is in worse shape under the vinyl.

Nope, I did like an idiot. I'm asking $3300, but will entertain reasonable offers.

Lowering the price to $3000. Still running solid even though I've go nowhere to drive now...
