*****ATTN: All those wanting a dual resonated midpipe*****
I have been seeing many people on this forum looking for the mazsport DR midpipe. I contacted Jim at Racing Beat about the situation. The pre-silencers that they sell are IN FACT the ones mazsport used. RB was supplying them with these. I asked him if it was possible for them to fabricate these pipes. He said he could definitely do that, he just needs to know how many are interested in order to start producing these. Remember, the more that want these, the better the chances they will put these into production!
So anyone interested, please respond to this post and I will compile a list for Jim to get the ball rolling. He asked me what mazsport was charging, so I am waiting on a response back from him about price.
Also, if anyone has any photos of the mazsport DR midpipe that I can send to Jim, it would be much appreciated. He needs some good photos to get an idea on fabrication.

I'm interested too in another DR pipe (I killed my Mazport midpipe by hitting a stupid grate on the road). I bought mine from mazsport.net in March 08 for $470 + shipping/handling).
I also remember Scott specifically claiming in one thread that he developed the resonators in-house. Interesting news to me if they were actually from RB...

It was on my short 2009 shopping list along with the Cobb AP so I would definitely be interested.
+1 on Mazsport saying that they weren't just using two RB resonators. There was a big thread with Jason @ RX7store involved discussing it and what they were doing to charge as much as they charged.

True. Though we do have proof that they tended to lie a fair amount.
It does sound like they bought from RB tho. They may have just used one RB silencer and a different silencer for the second. I imagine if someone near RB had one they could verify.
Maybe. Get under your car and look. :D

I would assume that RP would have stamped their logo on the resonated somewhere if they made it.

I don't recall seeing one, I gave it a good once-over checking the welds.
The pic posted above doesn't show one and my attached pic doesn't either (like how the bubble wrap created circles on my resonators).

guys....racing beat may not have made the presilencers, but they do carry them. I will post the email from Jim stating that mazsport used their silencers.....
Jonathan,
The presilencers that they were using in their midpipes were in fact our units. (Hence why they looked so similar!)
We had a hunch they were having trouble, we haven't been able to reach them for the past couple of weeks. Yes, it is certainly possible that we could fabricate this component, do you have a photo of what the midpipe looked like?
What were they charging for this pipe section? When you say there are "many" do you know exactly just how many were really waiting? (I've found that over the years that excitement runs high on forums for a new product.... until it comes time to actually but it. I don't want to make a bunch of these, especially with the economy in the dumper, only to have them sit on the shelf.)
Let me know, I'll see if I can't get the ball rolling.
Best regards,
Jim Langer

here is a follow up email after I told him about prices, etc....
We came up with a photo of the cat replacement pipe that they were offering, this is certainly something that we can produce. We have the presilencers on-hand, we'll need to look into modifying the cat replacement pipe (PN 16201) production jig to accept the presilencer units. Let me know how many people are interested.
My initial estimate is that the price of this pipe would be less than this, we'll need to look at the completed components and review the Bill of Material master.

Power Pulse.
They used to sell them in the $79 range. So figure $160 for the silences... a normal midpipe is about $120. So they should be able to sell them for over $100 less than mazsport.
Everyone should also keep in mind that due to the drop off in demand for materials like steel, prices for commodities have dropped by over 50%. Exhaust stuff should be dirt cheap. Back in 2004 I paid $450 for my borla. It went up over $200 as price of steel increased.

Why don't you take this occasion and try to have a single, well silenced midpipe?
Mazsport's product was heavy and you don't really need a second silencer if you use a good one near the headers. I have a couple of papers to prove this, but i don't know how loud mazsport's one was under full throttle from a 3ft distance.
I'm not trying to dig you all down but since you have the opportunity to have a custom built midpipe to your own specs then why sticking up to the old clichè?
