update guys:
I gave the link for this thread to Jim so that he could address the concerns and such. He sent this email:
So everything is in Racing Beat's hands. Hopefully they can improve on the design. Thanks for everyone's input on the subject and I will continue to provide updates if I get any.

Thanks for the thread.
We've pulled the parts and the Race Pipe welding jig from the shelves so we can get a better look at what is required for this project. Our main concern will be clearance issues with regards to the space surrounding the presilencers. We're not sure show MS squeezed these presilencers into such a tight space, we'll need to take the parts and our RX-8 to see what we're facing.
Mr. Oku oversees all of the exhaust development for our product offerings, he's the one with the "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" authority on each project. If he believes that the tolerances are just too close with regards to clearances, he might not approve this project We'll need to wait and see the findings of his initial research. Trust me, we've found that you guys get a bit cranky is our exhaust components start clanking off your chassis!
We typically offer replacement gaskets and any required mounting hardware with our exhaust components. On some of the newer applications, Mazda uses an large, expensive donut-shaped gasket that typically doesn't need replacing unless the original shows signs of distress.
Best regards,
Jim Langer

Sounds great, thanks for you efforts in pulling this all together.
I went through 4 RP Supercats and am back on stock now. i just want something that will last, that is beneficial (in terms of performance), and most importantly has a good note to it.

I'll call them when I get the chance tomorrow and see if my pipe would be useful to them, then post back in this thread.
EDIT: I sent Jim an email asking if he wants my pipe for R&D, will be waiting for a reply.

Looks like I'll be meeting Jim this weekend to give him my pipe:
Logan,
Thanks for the message. If you're in the area stop by with the midpipe, we'd be glad to be able to see one in person! Although we're closed Thurs-Sun, if you're in the area over the weekend holiday I can meet you at the shop. (I live 5 minutes away.) Let me know and I give you my contact info.
We've already started the R&D efforts on this project. Our shop foreman is just finishing some critical porting efforts for some 3-rotor race engines, they'll start the project in earnest early next week.
Our initial concerns are clearances with regards to the chassis brace. Mazsport used a couple of spacers to reposition the brace, which we're not too keen about. We have the ability to manufacture a slightly shorter second presilencer unit to allow the required clearance, this might be an option they'll consider. They'll need to get under the car and start welding a prototype unit together, they might be able to make some changes as compared with the Mazsport unit.
Best regards,
Jim Langer

ha! i told you those spacers Mazsport used were junk. now...let's see how a real business with real craftsmanship makes a real resonated mid-pipe.
i really wanted a resonated mid-pipe, but after getting the RB straight pipe...i'm glad it's not resonated. turbo + straight pipe = happy dan.
this is definately a huge plus for all you guys wanting a resonated mid-pipe! hope it all works out!!

Awesome, thanks for doing that. Its great to have a company out their that responds to customers like Racing Beat does. I can't believe how quickly they are working on this project! I am glad I proposed the idea to them. I am fairly confident that these will exceed the quality concerns that mazsport's had.

This is really awesome and RB gets high kudos from me for their quick response and interest (can't believe I just said kudos).
It would be awesome if they can produce a mid-pipe that'll not require the permanent removal of the two cross members (or be forced to use a "spacer").
If the sound is the same (or better) as MazSport's and they "corrected" the clearance issue, I might have to put my MazSport mid-pipe in the For Sale section.
I see RK on the list (not a surprise ) so since he is local to me, we can do a comparison between the mid-pipes.
