0-60,BHP,Max speed with Mods

I have been looking through the threads for a few days now and see that there is a lot of exciting things on the horizon, but still awaiting further testing dynos ect..

Its a mine field of information for sombody like myself from the Uk as we dont seem to be anywhere near as advanced with performance mods which you guys in the US seem to have on the RX-8.

But what current mods are working without glitches as the ecu is a nightmare on the 8.
Ive read through some threads on Greedy and Petit turbos and some on superchargers which are being devoloped.
Could anybody give me current performance measures ie 0-60 times and max speed output on current Mods already done.

I have 230 bhp 8 which the manafactures warranty is about to run out ,so looking to mod the car but unsure which way to go.
Any help much appriciated
Mick

Does 0-60 realy and topspeed realy matter? If it does, you have the wrong car.

Oh, yes. There is a search button on the top right of the screen.

er!
Why add a turbo?
Why add a supercharger?
Bit of hypercritical statement is it not!
I have spent a couple of days looking through the threads without any success useing the search button which i stated in my original post.
Hence the reason why i thought i would ask the question, which you dont have an answer for.
There is a lot of talk about improved performance and BHP,but no times nor speeds.
Maybe its the English accent
Oh and thanks for your help and the warm welcome guys

The reason is most of the people on here want to go down the curviest piece of road as fast as possible. There are some, but not very many people on here take their 8 to the strip. The RX8 can be made to go very fast. There are some 8s set up for drag that are ungodly fast. It takes crazy money to do it. It also kills the day to day driveability of it. The 8 is not the kind of car that wins bench races. I have a GTO sitting outside that will consistantly do 0-60 in under 5 sec. I can spend tons of money on my 8 and it simply will not be as fast.

The 8 has a very small motor. It is perfictly balanced. It was never intended to be a drag car. If you turn it into one, you will have the admiration of all of us. Including me. For the money, you would be a lot cheeper going with a GTO, mustang, or even a 350Z.

Start a thread asking who goes to the strip and find out what mods they have and how they work. You have to do something to attract those guys. It does seem like most of the replies were by people who modify for the track or for daily driving.

Cool Max headroom.....

My max speed is 240kph. Faster than that, for me, is not necessary.

Here is a thread on the mods I've done.
Have a look at the last page in particular.

I got 240km/h even, @7500rpm.... down hill with the wind behind me, and a picture to prove it... there are plenty of revs left in 6th gear, but the car is limited by the engines ability to push through the air.

The RX-8 will pass through 60mph, still in 2nd gear, so your 0-60 time can be around 6+ seconds. Quick enough to get into trouble, but not fast enough to beat the V8's. Wait till they try to catch you around the corner though....

I love it when a V8 car is messing with me when I fall into the corners. Hasta la vista baby.

Took my 8 out this mourning on some windy roads taking them at speed,it certainly challenged my bottle as to how fast i dare go around sharp bends without brakeing.
I had a lot of fun and a big grin on my face
Ive only had the car a couple months now and hav nt really had the chance to give it some around a windy stretch of road until today.
On the way back i came down a dual carridge way doing around 70-80 mph and i get a youth in a old ***** trying to touch my back bumper.
I floored it but he still kept with me for a while until i red lined it

I must admit that the car does bring out the kid in me.

I have been looking on the UK RX-8 owners club and read about the prodrive track days that they do,looks good.Think i will be booking my place so i can really see what the car can do.

Get better anti-sway bars, better brake pads, and better tires... Preserve cornering speeds and pass under late braking. This is the RX-8s particular forte. From 0-60 it's almost a lost cause. From 30 to 80, driving off corners hard, most of your friends' cars will have a hard time keeping up.

Lighter wheels also help, and they're easier to install than a lighter flywheel.
