02 Simulators

Has anyone had any luck using the Casper Electronics 02 behind the cat simulator to eliminate a CEL condition with a High Flow Cat?

No but I need an O2 simulator since I dont have a cat. RX7.com stopped selling them. Isnt yours working? Should I look somewhere else to get one, if there is anywhere else.

Well how about this, can any one confirm that a CEL puts the car in limp mode taking away horsepower and fuel effiency?

I just googled and got:

Why don't these work? Is it this one: 182-104037

Thumbs up Fyi

I called Mike at Casper Electronics and they are going to send me a 02 sim for behind the cat. Since I am running a SR High Flow Cat & Racing Beat back cat exhaust, Mike said that the 02 sim, if wired properly(no plug-n-play for the RX-8) should correct the 2 codes(heater & cat efficency) and get rid of the CEL, which is a very common problem with High Flow Cats on all cars, not just the RX-8.

If you are running the midpipe, then the 02 sim will not work, according to Mike and they specifically state that on their website.

My mechanic, who has a high performance modified Dodge Viper and Corvette with high flow cats said it worked well on his cars.

As far as your RX-8 going limp or having bad gas mileage with the CEL on, I can give you what is happening with mine and let you all take it from there. My RX-8 has a K&N short ram intake, Magnecor plug wires, SR pulleys, SR high flow cat and RB back cat exhaust, RP oil in engine, trans & diff and is currently running very rich, but my 8 is running very fast with very quick throttle response and can pull beyond redline easily as well as it's gas mileage does suck . The trade off for my car is mega power and lousy gas mileage.

Since I like the power, I live with it and have put a happy face over my CEL. I will be curious to see what the 02 sim will do and will update you all when I get it installed.

I have no CEL now. Haven't had one for about 10000 miles. Kinda strange.....
