Which part of "tested before and after on a dyno by an independant party" do you consider bogus?

I'm not sure that an independent person did do the tests. Listen, i hope it works, i really do, but i can't believe it until someone completely independent tests it. Maybe that someone is you. However, when something sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

IMO, anything found on Sports Car Revolution has a damned good chance of being bogus. Did Dyno Bimbo perform the test? Hell those guys don't even know the difference between a strut brace and a sway bar...I'm not making this up, they used the terms interchangeably in one episode. For some reason I watch it anyway, but I don't think I'd run out and buy anything based on their recommendations. Sounds just a bit too Slik50-ish for me.

i watched the episode of SCR that this product was featured. the host of the show was skeptical but could not deny the dyno and was suprised at the results.

I am inclined to agree, but i still hope it works. Better call my broker while there is still time. I really dont want to turn this into anything mean, but shows by their nature are commercial enterprises. TV shows rarely "feature" any product without some type of agreement that the product will be shown in a positive light. Most of these shows aren't done for the "good of the hobbyist" they are designed to fill air time and sell commercials. And guess what most of the show is devoted to pushing products. I still hope this stuff works but i will remain skeptical.

SCR seems relatively objective about their results--at least when hard numbers are concerned. Example: they reported the StopTech brakes resulted in less dyno HP (increased polar moment of inertia) and the Mugen(?) camshaft had a 25(?) HP dip relative to OEM at one point on the graph. We'll see how this goes.

Whoever is testing this should run a UOA prior to the additive. (Used oil analysis)

Then add it and run a UOA again at the next oil change.

This will show the effect of the additive on the overall wear of the engine as well as exposing its effect on the TBN (total base number or additives remaining) and fuel dilution (if any).

Surprised you guys haven't stumbled upon fuel power and lube control yet.

Finally got my two bottles, one gas additive and one oil additive.

I will use it on my Honda Element. I do alot of driving in that car. I drive a lot in that car so it's easier for me to get MPG data quickly. I also kept a fuel usage log since we bought the car, so I will have a lot of baseline data to compare to.

We shall see if this is snake oil or not.

Perfect. I plan to do likewise with my RX-8 soon (bottles arrived, waiting to empty current tank) and post notes. But your mileage data sounds like it will be much more comprehensive. I will be very interested to see your mpg trend for each tank after treatment.

I have to say this sound pretty good too., especially since it much cheaper. Maybe something I will try later.

PUR NRG - I will keep everyone posted on the results. I have a vested interest in getting my MPG up on all my cars, because I drive so much.

Most of the information on your website talks about the benefits of the products on 'cylinders' and 'valves', etc. Can you provide specific/measured information or experience with the products (fuel and oil treatments) on Rotary engines? Is the procedure for adding the products the same (which I understand to be, for the fuel treatment, adding the product to a near-empty gas tank, filling up the tank, then driving around a few minutes)? If you don't have dyno results for Rotary-Powered cars, I'd love to send you the before and after dyno results, if you are interested.

If this email was sent to the wrong person in the company, please forward - and accept my apology for using your time. I'm skeptical, honestly, about 'pour-in' HP, but researching your products gives me at least the desire to spend the money to find out

Check out my thread on the EXP4 results. I tested the oil and petro addative and basically found no real benefits yet. I will do more testing to get more data points.

I tested on a 2003 Honda Element with about 49,000 miles.

My results don't look very encouraging.

Methodology
CanScan data logging. Rolling start in 2nd gear, data captured from ~15 mph to redline. 24.4 mph to 60.39 mph was used as time intervals to reduce problems with different rolling start speeds. Both sets of runs done at roughly the same ambient temp and on the same section of road. The same brand fuel was used and times measured with roughly the same amount left in the tank.

Pre-additive:
4.825 sec and 4.698 sec. 4.762 average.

Post-additive at 70 miles:
5.068 sec and 4.877 sec. 4.973 average.

Even discounting variances in times, the best additive speed was worse than the worst original speed. That implies the additive had no measureable benefit for HP gains.

I had strong hopes for this additive, and the fact the manufacturer was confident enough in his product to send me two free sets for sampling bolstered my hopes. Because of my driving style (including autocross events) I'm not able to accurately measure MPG benefits. Another person on this forum is doing that with a piston engine and his initial results are good but not statistically conclusive. Hopefully others can add further data regarding Exp4 use in a rotary engine.

well I never expected much to begin with, but worth a shot i guess. I could 'prove' that adding a 50lb weight to the trunk adds horsepower if all I was using was a dyno, just gotta pick the right plots.
