Like someone else said, check your autocross regulations to see what is allowed for your class. If you are concerned about the results (aren't just competing against yourself, so to speak), you don't want your mods to bump you into a class that is not competitive.
If I had to do it again, I'd look at an RP Supercat before a cat-back. Proven power gains, and it is much lighter than the stock cat.
That said, the cheapest, most helpful mods for autocross would be stiffer sway bars and better tires, I would think.
