The filter just did its job really well. After the filter, everything looks perfectly clean. I replaced it with a K&N.

K&N and 87 octane, that's like +15whp

I've known about octane ratings, I ain't no hemi drivin NASCAR racer, puttin 127 octane in my car and what not. Octane is more like a "minimum of" required.

I was just afraid that the 87 would detonate and the knock sensor would notice it, then back off my timing without me knowing, and I'd be doomed to being ignorant of my inferior power...

Explain how your using 87 (regular)? I thought that plus or premium was at least required. Do you have an A/F gauge? I just want to see what the A/F ratio is and if its a safe one for the RX8. Is there anyone else who uses 87 or plus out there?

Since you already knew this information why didn't you post at all? Anyways, do you know or knew then information....seems like its in past tense so it would be knew FYI. I'm going to pretend you didn't post and hope someone posts actual information about what octane gas they put in their. It would be great if you(reader/poster) could explain the causes of that octane gas.

So the only difference is more power for the lower octane? No one has said anything about negative effects from it other then it knocking which I honestly don't know how easy it is to do that.

hey you guys im debating on whether or not to get the greddy turbo kit. or to just go all out and buy the mazsport turbo kit..

what gauges would i need or any other stuff would i have to purchase.. ive never had a turbo car before.

and hows the drivability.. im gonna go with the interceptor but i just want to drive a car i can drive as a daily driver..
