to elaborate on that thought:
You could also save this thread by posting pic's of your 8 w/a 3rotor being transplanted into the car...w/you standing next to it while holding a laptop w/you logged onto the rx8 club while wearing a name tag w/your forum name and current date....being nekkid and attractive wouldn't hurt either

really that much? my friend owns ART automotive racing tech. so labor isnt that big of a problem, and his brother has an rx7 and wants to do it to his as well. but he's told me that he found the complete 3 rotor stock for around 4 grand. which apparently gives me up to 400 hp after tuning and the whole deal. so i dont see how it could get to be that much, unless im upgrading every part and buying it all seperately.
Nice, you should be fine just as long as you have enough money for labor and partially parts because although your friend owns the company he still needs to profit (unless he's doing it for fun) and considering that this project is not as simple as it may sound. You might want to read up on some other 20b/3 rotor intalls and look at what FI can do to an RX8 as well. Staying NA for 400hp, 20b is great but trying to get the thing in the RX8 and working properly will bring the cost up faster than you would assume. Things could go wrong throughout the build as well and will contribute to your expenses. It's a great route IMO but just go in there with an open mind I suppose. $20,000 like some of the others have mentioned is a good amount of money to be able to spend on this project and might even be enough since you friend owns the company.
Let me know how everything goes, my situation is almost similar.

Fortunately there are a few people here that can avoid responding like a retarded child
you can start here: https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-major-horsepower-upgrades-93/esmeril-racing-20b-conversion-kit-guide-testing-waters-183045/
if you have the funding and the labor it can be done, but it's not a simple bolt-in.
