PkSkull, I've also seen the WRX reviewed at 6 seconds and the 8 reviewed at 5.9. Does that mean the 8 is faster?

As far as you owning both, did you race both of them at the same time with you in each car? Well no, seeing as there's only one of you. So again, there's no way to tell. You may "feel" like the WRX is faster, but that's just because of the nature of the rotary engine...it never "feels" like it's accelerating very fast.

Was it in the same mag? Different mags use different techniques. I will say this, its close, but its a lot easier to achieve a good start in the WRX than in the 8. 7k launches are a great way to ruin your car.

^ I agree about the clutch drops. I'm just trying to defend Broker's position, and am glad that you admitted it was a driver's race.

I never said it wasn't. Any cars within a second of eachother make it a drivers race. Heck on any give day you could beat an STI, becuase the driver sucks. Same driver, same conditions, a WRX wins.

Thing is...0-60 times don't require that much skill...just know how to launch and know when to shift...you'll hit 60 in 2nd gear...so not much room to mess up either.

?

Niro you're putting the STI in the same class as the 8...yah ok??? Never even seen a comparison between the two...why...because they are very different beasts...correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't most write ups talk about the STI & EVO and draw the comparison as rally car knock offs....man dude give me a break....

then you flame away about the 8 only being .5sec faster than the RSX-s, yet if I give you the benefit of the doubt (hardly), the WRX would only be what, .2-.1 sec faster to 60...jesus......I am done with you.

RSX is a fwd...I'm still not understanding why you're comparing it to an rx8? That's something you rarely see if anything...

that's ok...this is all coming from a guy that claims an rx8 is faster then a wrx...so enjoy your fantasy world.

so because the sti is so much faster, handles so much better then the rx8 it puts it in a completely different class...not even worth comparing to a slow sport car like an rx8 even tho' the cost is about the same...makes sense, thanks.

I agree it takes some talent...but if you own the car and drive it daily...chances are you know how to drive it well. If you own a car, drive it daily and have problems performing two good shifts at high rpms...you need much more help...

It's not fair to say the 8 is slow, its a damn good car, and a ton of fun to drive. However, I do feel it is fair to compare the STI and the 8, their both sports cars. The reason mags don't bother is because their is no competition.

As far as cost is concerend, a GT 8 is 31,000 sticker. You can get it cheaper, but thats only because the car is not selling well. Therefore there is about a 3 g difference in price. If you want power the STI is a much better purchase, if you don't care about speed and want refienment go for the 8. That decision is all about personal prefence.

In Canada, the 8 starts at $36K whereas the STi starts at $47K...not close by my book.

I was exagerating about it being slow overall...it's very slow in comparison to the sti, which was the point I was trying to get across.

It's not fair to compare the base mode RX-8 to an STI, because there is only one SIT. A fairer comparision is the GT to the STI.

From their respective websites:

STi: $32,445 USD
RX-8: $25,935 USD

Yeah, that's about 3-4K

Base model 8, but once again thats not a fair comparision.

Hey, I'm just stating the facts. RX-8 base is way cheaper than STi base. RX-8 fully loaded is way cheaper than STi fully loaded. If you want to compare a fully loaded 8 to a base STi then that's your choice but I don't know why anybody would want to do that.

Anybody in the market for one fully loaded car is probably a "fully loaded" type of person and wouldn't settle for the base of another type of car. Just my guess though.

The base STI comes with a ton of things the base 8 doesn't have, therefore it is unfair to compare the two cars like that. The GT model is closer, as far as features go, to the base STI.

First of all...that $25,900 you quoted was for the automatic rx8...so maybe you should try the base 6 speed...which starts at 27.4...add a few options (GT and some others) and you're easily over 35k...the FULLY LOADED STi is about 35k...

Hey, the Auto 8 and Manual 8 are the SAME PRICE in Canada so give me a break! I just looked on the US websites for the "starting from" prices. Jeez.

I'm done here.

You meant in the U.S., right? Or are you forgetting about the rest of the little continent?

Niro you are clueless...when did I say the 8 was faster than the WRX?? all I said was they were close to even.....then you switch gears and start talking about the STI??.give me a break....yah the STI will blow away the 8, and the 350Z, the base WRX to name a few....we were talking about the WRX RX8 Comp.....and I am sorry, but the fully loaded 8 is no where near the price of a fully loaded STI, or G35C, at least not in Canada. We start talking about one thing and you throw in another car (STI) for what purpose....I was just throwing names out there as far as cars in the mid 14's to low 15's for the 1/4, like the RSX-S.....yah it's FWD, but who cares, is the 8 AWD like the STI??? :p Jesus man, it is clear you don't own the car....in fact you probably own the WRX and just want to mix it up over here...best of luck......and once again, a fully loaded 350Z, G33C in comparison with a fully loaded 8 is not close in price up here...sorry.
Get a life.

You had to change topics because you knew I was right about the WRX and 8....and then put words into my mouth about the 8 being faster??...once again, and listen carefully this time ! all I said was the WRX, from a light and on the highway did not pull on me....so what does that mean??..do you want me to spell it out for you.....about dead even, or close to it.....have a good weekend....I am off to Mexico for a week.......TakeCare
