949 whp Mazda RX-8

Well everyone, i dont really post anything up. I recently recieved my Turbo & High-Tech Performance magazine for this upcoming month issue. It seems to feature a RX-8 that has 949 whp. Yes the Dynos are correct. I was shocked to read this article. I thought i should share this with you all, like you've done for me. This RX-8 does not run off of the new renesis engine, but had been given a 3-rotor 20b dropped into it.

P.S. if you guys want the details, i will be happy to post up the article word by word. Just ask. :D

If my memory serves me correct, they believed there was nothing wrong with using cut springs. :D

I wonder if it went up on ebay for the 12th time.

Acosta never backed up this car on this site....just empty claims.

They did race the 911, and as I recall didn't do too bad? As for the Viper, that just died off. I think they are a lot of smoke and mirrors and not much more. I don't remember them ever giving us real specs or explanations when they were on here. Just round about answers, and always fishing for a potential buyer for the car.

We need true representation of projects and not just hype to be unloaded on someone else..20b's are nice, have ridden in a few. I'll take a fully built REW w/t78 or t04r over a 20b anyday.

Why would you take an REW with a T78 over a 20B any day, not considering cost?

How do you figure? The RX-8 engine bay has far more room, and there are less parts that need to be fabricated to fit everything into the car. Consider a brand new 2004 RX-8 can be bought for $20,000 right now.

but.. FD should be cheaper than 8 cuz it's old.!!! and the most of the rotary store mod FD, and still not much of them start to mod 8. so I beileve they has more experience on mod a FD than a 8. ok let's do a calculate.!! predict we got a 8 like u said $20,000+tax about 21k ok
a 93 FD in a good condiction about 15k a 3 R engine about 4k+other stuff about 6k
15k+6K+extra stuff for FD(2K)=23K
21k+6K=27K
o well both are 3R car . but it seems like a 3R FD is cheaper than a 3R 8.!!!
remember FD is lighter than 8!!!

Until the Acousta Guy can produce some hard facts on the car, we should just flame him everytime he comes on the forum. Most of the time if someone can't prove something, its bullshit. For all the real people out there trying to make something work everytime, cheers to you. Anyone can make something one off. Question is can you produce something that will work on all RX8 as a bolt-on that make power?

0-100 in 1.6...I'll need to see non-partisan documentation to believe that.

I liked what they did, too bad they never took the time to actually back anything up. I don't see what the point is of building something you will never use, it's like building a mansion, locking yourself out of it, and sitting in the front lawn and staring at the door all day wondering how nice it must be inside, I don't get it.

1.6 sec? how is it possible to launch the car, get traction, and reach 60mph in under 2 sec.... it doesnt make sense

I don't think it's 950whp, it was more like 800bhp. At that much power, I don't think there would be enough available traction to acclerate to 60mph in 1.6 seconds. In this case, a less powerful car may be far more effective to achieve the best results.
