im currently replacing my cooling syatem an i was looking at the ac system an wondering if it can be removed for hp gains like the old school cars?? plus i dont like the stupid ac radiator thing thats gonna block my sweet new mishimoto rad

 

the ac has a clutch or something, and basically disconnects at high rpm, so it's not as much of a drag on power as you might think.

 

im just looking at it as dead weight i never use it an plus i fd up an disconnected all my air wen i was changin my rad lol so i dont wanna have it refilled

 

I've never really noticed a power drag with it on. Its much less noticeable than other cars. There may be a slight parasitic loss, but its hard to tell.

 

I hope you never ever intend to sell the car once you've removed the a/c. I wouldn't pay $10 for an RX-8 without it. The old cars didn't gain jack **** in power from removing it. When the a/c isn't on, it's hardly a drag on the system. The logic that many had was the removing it was lighter and therefore faster. The reality is that it only is slightly but you lose so much more about the car in the process. Leave it alone. Don't do the old school mods that so many ignorant people do in order to destroy their cars in the name of 1/10th of a second in the 1/4 mile.
