ACT Clutches & Flywheel
#26
Power!!
Just physics. Less inertia will make the engine stall easier so you'll have to modulate the clutch more when starting on a hill. It's just one of the trade offs.

i have decided to buy the Street/strip clutch kit along with the Prolite flywheel combo from rx7store $725 pack.
will i need anything else than that?

I believe it comes with the throwout bearing and clutch bearing so you should be good to go. Are you going to install it yourself?
If so you'll need a tool to stop the flywheel from rotating when you try to remove the nut and a clutch alignment tool.
BTW: I just wanted to post my initial impressions after putting about 350 miles on my new ACT street/strip clutch. The pedal pressure is a little stronger so it takes a little more to push it down but its definitely manageable for daily driving. I expected it to be more difficult to modulate but it's actually very smooth and linear. The engagement zone is smaller so it took a little getting used to but it feels great and the engagement is very positive. I definitely recommend this if you are replacing your clutch. It gave off a pretty strong clutch smell as it was breaking in over the first 200 miles or so but it has subsided now so I think it's through the breakin period.
Overall I am very happy with this clutch!

my friend actually got the ACT Xtreme stage 1 clutch and a rivet sheared from it, leaving him high and dry in the middle of the road, so maybe the guy who advised me ACT stuff isnt reliable was onto something...

thats exactly what my mechanic told me , unless you are going to put some serious power on the car - go with the regular stage 1 - or the bracket and mounts are gonna be history
