Question question?

first question is when in the hell is this thing going to be available? second question is would you have to take the front bumper off everytime you have to clean the filter if so the disign on this intake is horrible.......

yeah, but you only have to take and clean the filter every 25 to 50 thousand miles, depending on what kind of conditions you drive in. the aem filters are basically a k&n filter, even though they are not marked as such, and it has been shown that a k&n doesnt lose and performance until about 1/4 inch of debris has accumulated on the filter element. i would rather have to take the bumper off to clean the filter if it meant that the intake made even 2 extra hp. it is a good design from the performance standpoint.

also from the pics i have seen of it, you can probably just drop the lower debris shield and access it from there anyway.

Not to mention it only takes about 15-20 minutes to remove the bumper cover going slowly... so doing that every 1-2 years doesn't that horrible does it??

ok so what happens if you decide to go with a turbo kit and you have to put the intercooler in front of it? where is it going to get the air from? will it even fit?

so........are we saying that cool air intakes are a waste of time and money? I was actually considering one and was told that the AEM was much better than the K&N when its available that is....whats the general consensus?

ok, if you are doing a turbo, then save your money and forget any intake, cause you will be just taking it off anyway.

intakes are a good idea if you are looking for a little extra power. just to give you a little background, import tuner did an rx-8 for their july issue. one of the items they tested was the k&n typhoon intake, which with their test vehicle made between 0 and 4 hp all the way across the rpm range, and between 0 and 6 lb/ft of torque. granted each car is a little different you and with the same item on your car may see more or less gained power.

personally, if i were to choose an intake for any vehicle, i would choose AEM, as i have had nothing but great luck with them, having used them on all my vehicles for the last 6 years.

This is truely a cold air intake, filter located in direct airflow and no stupid tubes (dont take this offesively, i know they serve a purpose) behind the bumper. I can see that this could be the best bang for the buck.

This alone is why I would take AEM. For years they have consistently given the best power output. They made the most power and best midrange in Celica GT-S, they put out 19.5 WHEEL HORSE POWER on the Acura RSX with just the CAI alone - AEM knows what they're doing.

I want to get the Racing Beat kit, but find a way to place it lower to the ground and insulated. Maybe use something like a ramp for air under the car and angle the front of the intake toward this. Kind of like a vacuum with a wide mouth narrowing down right in front of the filter.

Sorry, I don't have a clue. But the Racing Beat system does make since and so does rotorygod's explaination.
