Pros - sound, slight increase in power, definitly colder air
cons - sound, light increase in power given cost, cleaning filter might get annoying
search - most people are going to tell you to do a search on this perhaps in the intakes, intakes, inteaks thread

I have the Mazdaspeed CAI which is essentially the same thing and I like it. It definitely gives the car a racier sound (IMHO) and it'll give you a bit more power which you can feel if you're really in tune with the car (no pun intended), but don't expect it to pin you back in your seat. Although, if that's what you're after, a CAI isn't the way to go no matter who makes it.

I have the AEM CAI, I love the sound but it didn't add much power to it (I wasn't expecting it to) It helps a little, but like the previous person said, you may not notice it unless you really know your car.

i was one of the 1st people to get the AEM on the boards. It sounds awesome , especially when driving under a tunnel sounds exotic kinda. Power wise you won't feel 3-5 HP. it's a good intake i would recommend it

Make your own for 1/3 the price like I did. That way you can spend the extra money on another overrated mod.
First version I made as a short ram:
https://www.rx8club.com/attachment.p...chmentid=89782
Second and final version was a custom CAI:
https://www.rx8club.com/attachment.p...chmentid=90088
https://www.rx8club.com/attachment.p...chmentid=90089
I have been running my setup for months with no CEL.

The only thing I didn't like about the AEM was the WOT sound at low rpms. It drones loud enough to be embarasssing. After 5K though the intake sounds amazing.

K&N is that good? thats weird cuz when it first came out i heard people complaining about the loss of power -.- maybe they were talking about something else. but iono does CAI or any of that stuff null warranty cuz currently my car is kinda "sick" and i have 36k miles already so i might just wait a while if it nulls warranty and just drive the stock car cuz its more then enough to have fun with.

If installed correctly, a cold air intake will not void your warranty. All it does is smooth out airflow compared to the stock intake box, so nothing is really altered.
IMHO the AEM is the best intake on the market. It has dyno proven horsepower gains (not anything you'll instantly feel, but you will gain around 5 horsepower) and it will lower your intake temps quite a bit. Its definitely the best looking intake, and sounds pretty similar to other intakes.
There really aren't any cons. I have yet to have any problems driving in the rain (if you're on stock springs the filter should be about 5 inches off the ground). I guess the install is a little harder compared to short-ram intakes but the lower intake temps will make it worth your time.

If there is one advantage to using the AEM it's the fact that the intake piping is the same diameter and shape of the stock intake piping.
While there are those of you who have made your own CAI, it's not something I would advise. The Mass Airflow Sensor on the RX8 is very very sensitive where the slightest misposition or angle can cause unwanted effects in your fuel delivery. Also the overall diameter of the tube will impact the readings your MAF sees. Without the ability to calibrate your MAF you could actually be robbing yourself of power.
Kudos if you know what you're doing but otherwise I'd stick with the AEM. However, there's no definate data showing gains over the stock intake and in fact with a replacement drop in like a K&N or a Green filter there's no reason why the stock intake can't deliver the same Intake Air temperature that the AEM does.
The stock intake on the RX8 is well designed which is why replacement intakes do next to nothing except lighten your wallet. If you're dead set on getting one I would stick with the AEM.

Yeah I kind of did the same thing. I took a cut off wheel on a grinder and cut off the tube comming from the air box. Then i went to NAPA and picked up a K&N filter for a Tahoe (so it was long) It sounds amazing, and i only spend $60 on it. I have pics if n e ones interested
