aem intake question

aem intake question
for all of you aem intake owners, and maybe even non owners is there any possible way that you can take the filter off to clean it without having to remove the front bumper? i mean I know that you have to remove it the first time for the install, but I already have a good friend doing it here in delaware.... but i would hate to have to keep taking off the bumper... so if anyone can help I would appreciate it.....

You'd still have to take off the under panel (if that's the correct term) which is nearly half the work of taking off the bumper anyway. After that you just have the corner lights and the top clips. I'd say any work you save by not taking off the bumper you end up doing trying to fight through the opening on the bottom to get the filter off.

Stupid question, but what did you all do with hose that's left? Cap it off? I put a tiny little filter on it (probably not the best thing). man I've to find out what I did with my instructions.

does your new AEM kit come with the small filter (~5" long) or the long one (~9" long)

I recently bought a long AEM 3.5" oil-less dryFlow filter for my custom CAI, but i's proving to be too large for what I'm trying to do inside the CAI box. So I'll probably buy the shorter version and offer the long one up for sale. It has only 50 miles on it max, would make a nice upgrade for someone who has the previous oil-based K&N filter

hey chuck.... chuck (lurch519) is going to install my AEM intake, when i get it, I went to his shop yesterday and its not a dry flow, its the original oiled filter. I might order it from chuck or get my friends who went turbo, he has an AEM and his is the original filter too....I'm not worried about the length of time to clean it, because you don't have ot c lean the filter until maybe 1-2 years... but i'm just worried about when the time comes, how I'm going to do it, since I don't know how to take off the front bumper...

I can reach mine to take it off right beside to plastic rotor on the bumper under the grill. I then check it for dirt, dust, grim, etc. If it dirt you do have to take of the plastic panel under your radiator...You don't have to remove the bumper again after you install it!
