Am I on the Right track to a Respectable RX8...

Alright guys Im 18, I dont know everything about cars but I do know how to use the search engine.
I have a 04 6MT and so far I have an AEM Intake, AP Pulleys, and Axxis Ultimate Pads.
I do alot of autocross, which is what our car was made for, and I abs. love it.
I valet and ive driven m5s, porsches, and even a maserati and I will still take my RX8 over them to keep. Its all about the driving experience and we deliver.
I know better autocross times come from experience and knowing your car but its time I shut up my American loving friends that only car about acceleration and sound. I know I wont accommodate them as Id like to, but I want to sound mean. I love the intakes sound but in terms of exhaust Im having trouble. Im considering an AP midpipe since I jsut got emission tested shhh...lol any thoughts..?
And a lightweight flywheel too..?
Im new so i Just wanted to give a heads up.
Glad to be here with other enthusiasts.

Your intake should be enough heh, I have a RB catback and my intake is louder, but only because im waiting on BHR's midpipe. Id go with a good catback, midpipes on stock exhausts are meh...

The only time I would suggest anyone to get a lightweight flywheel would be if your clutch went out and you needed to replace the clutch already anyways. Just because it is a lot of work to get to the flywheel for very little gain.

ok ill be honest with this question
a midpipe is a cat-back without the cat right?
and i was probably gunna keep my muffler stock...
yes no?

a catback usually refers to everything behind the catalytic converter (the muffler(s), piping, exhaust tips) were as a midpipe refers to the pipe directly in between the catback and the header(s).

and if you were going to switch out a mipipe (usually they are 3 inch pipes, I would say it would be best to switch out the catback as well, however not necessary, as the stock system is 2.5 inch

Definitely swap out the stock exhaust for a more aggressive sound.

The CAT is the thing thats holding back some hp, so you might as well do a full exhaust minus headers... But a good exhaust system with midpipe will put you at roughly $1000

If you autocross, what about some suspension mods? Maybe not as flashy as an exhaust, but a nice set of swaybars can go a long way.

ive thought about sway bars, but if anything i would like to lower it for the looks, i still need to pay for college (well somewhat) but when I do get the money I will look into it.

well then i dont understand.. wouldnt it be cheaper and smarted to just replace the cat with a straight pipe?

it would be cheaper to just run a straight pipe, you can pick those up for not that much, but the sound is going to be extremely loud and obnoxious, most people end up paying $300+ on resonated midpipes alone for sound QUALITY. remember the midpipe replaces the catalytic converter just as straight pipes would.
if you want a respectable rx8, its not going to come cheap. and if you're serious about auto-x, look into suspension mods like shocks, springs, sways and coilovers. they'll make more of a difference than any performance mod... minus FI

I got the full Agency power exhaust, with the duel resonated mid-pipe and some Silencers in the tips, and I get nothing but complements on the sound, its aggressive but not obnoxious, and I love it, even took an RX-7 guy for a drive and he was impressed. back to your orginal question about being on the right track.

check your spark plugs and coils, research BHR's Ignition upgrade kit, I highly recommend this mod, also after I got the Agency exhaust, I got the cobb AP from Mazda-maniac who has tuned the car. I could not be happier with the results

also if your autoX alot, I hope you have done some research about Premix, I personally use Idumitsu.

anyways that is my 2 cents, some might agree, others may not, and I respect that

all that said STAY IN COLLEGE!!

definitely go with the midpipe, there are no noticeable gains in the rest of the exhaust. Also go with the a new swaybar up front. I added one and i would have to say it is THE MOST NOTICEABLE mod I have done on my car so far, especially if you do autox. After I put it in all I got were compliments from other gear head friends that I let drive my car. The RX8 is notorious for having good handling, so why not make it handle even better? just my .2$ also got to college. I dropped out, worst decision ever!!!

haha dont worry guys hopefully i will be staying in college..
but im seein mixed review with the exhaust as i have always seen whether only midpipe helps with power rather then full cat-back...
ughh!!
i appreciate it tho
