Or we can do auto-x!
I still don't get why people want to beat a 350z. Whatever mods you do to the 8, the 350z can match and exceed. It was built for speed, not comfort/capacity/looks (well I think it's ugly) like the RX-8 is.
*edit* I hope I didn't come across as "you guys are stupid for modding the car." What I mean is, if you want to go faster, do whatever you want to achieve it. But if you're desperately trying to justify why you bought this car and not the 350z by looking for ways to beat it, then you have some other issues!

Yes, that's what was on my mind, something like (that BMI supercar battle race) where the nsx-r catches up to the 2 lambos by braking and spread lead in the corners roughly as fast as how the lambos spread the distance in the straight.

The issue with that concept is that the 350z doesn't really suck at corners and braking. It isn't as nimble as the 8, but it can hold it's own.
The other issue is, there aren't that many tracks with a crapload of turns. Most have a significant number of straights, or sweeping turns. The only place you're really going to find a crapload of turns is mountain touge.
*edit* and oh, there is a BMI vid or something on this forum of the 350z v S2000 v G35 v MS RX-8 v Shinka RX-8 on Tsukuba track. Take a search for it - the S2000 is a much better contender against the 350z than the RX-8.

To steal a Jeremy Clarkson (Top Gear) line. An RX8 is easily faster than a 350z if the 350z is doing 40mph and the RX8 is doing 60mph. The RX8 has no Problem at all over taking the 350z like this.

Reason why people want to beat a 350z is because its virtually the other car in terms of comparisons and competition even though they both just dont compare. One of them is a true sports car with 2 seats (heavy though) while the other one happens to be lightweight 4 seat sedan with a completely different type of engine. Roughly same price also puts them in the same comparison boat... but then look at how much horsepower the 350z puts down compared to the RX8 for a little more $.
There has always been this comparison, but the fact is that its amazing for a RX8 to even be able to keep up with a 350z with that much horsepower at the wheels versus the 8's. That tells you alot about how the RX8 was engineered and how nimble and well it handles, "like a glove". The 350z isnt nearly quite as nimble, obviously to it have 400+ more pounds of crap in it but it has roughly ~80 more HP at the wheels than the 8, and LOADS more torque, which is why the 350z says "bye" in the straights...
As far as cornering the overweight 350z is hard to slow down and brake fade occurs pretty fast, both of these hurt the 350z's cornering ability where the RX8 can keep on going.
