AP midpipe with BHR resonator problem...

Hey,

I have a Turboxs 3" catback system on an Agency Power dual res midpipe, though it was very loud and I kept getting into trouble with the police. So I went down the root of the quiter BHR unit, though shipping to Australia was $450+ plus the midpipe! So I went the cheaper option and just got the resonator. Today the local exhaust shop cut the existing two AP resonators out and welded the BHR one on and just extra stainless steel pipe where the extra one was. Now this should be near exact to the BHR midpipe. Though the sound is good, quiter, except there is a noticable yet slight kind of raspy sound on all gears straight from the moment you put power on...it sounds more similar to an air induction sound...is this normal for the BHR midpipe?...It's kind of annoying lol.

really? so not the welding of the resonator but more the extra bit of the pipe or where they welded the resonator onto the pipe?

It's either not that straight so it rattles somewhere or they welded everything poorly. Pics of the frankenpipe would help!

I have the full turbo XS exhaust with the BHR welded in and it sounds good and much quieter but still loud. No rasp and no rattles. So the problem is with the weilding they did on the midpipe. Should have just cut out 1 resonator and added the BHR unit. The midpipe looks almost straight but it curves both vertical and horizontal. My guess is it is rattling against the cross members. There is not very much room for error when using a 3" midpipe.

Supercharger is gone. Ported motor now, also have a header. FYI 3rd gear 9K RPM up a hill at Leguna seca gets me a DB reading of 98, shift to 4th before the sound box and I am at the 92 db limit.

I have a mysterious rattle that appeared after I put my BHR midpipe on too. I notice it at idle sometimes. Its not bad enough though that the effort of trying to resolve it would be worth it. Nothing is loose, nothing is in contact with anything else. Hangar is tight. Its just an annoying rattle I get sometimes which appeared right after installing the bhr pipe.

Thanks for all the input guys, even asking speaking to Charles at BHR he also reckons it could be a leak from either the front, rear or 02 sensor so I will take it back to the exhaust shop who did the work after this long easter weekend.

@rx8pwnage .. check the aluminum heatshield above the exhaust against the frame. It is held in place by 10 mm bolts. look if any of the bolts are missing. I had the rattle too after working on my exhaust never touched those heatshields but for some reason the 2 bolts came off causing a little rattle at idle and lots at hard launches.

interestingly enough I am getting the same thing. Very slight rattle that is only heard during idling since installing BHR MP.
