AP Underdrive pully squeel

now, i went to get my ACT flywheel installed at mazda, when i got it back i noticed my fan belt/crank pullies, w/e were squeeling like mad, so i popped the hood and found the two large bolts on the top of the alternator were almost complelty remvoed.. for what reason.. im unsure of.. i didnt know who had to loosen those two bolts to remove the tranny... anyways, i tightend them up making sure they pullies wernt to tight, but everyone once in awhile, on cold days/cold starts usually there is some squeeling still.. has anyone else had this problem with those pullies when it gets cold, or did driving around for the day or 2 with the loose bolts some how affect the pully, or is it just your normal "you gotta lube them up a bit cuz they're "Dry" " thing?

I have the same problem, whenever it gets bellow 35 the pulley squeals a little at start up but once it warms up it goes away. I tried adjusting many times with no luck. It's been doing this all winter long, no issues with it thus far. I'm guessing that if it only does it on cold days and goes away once it warms up your OK (I'm no mech though.)

is this a common problem with the AP pullies? Or is this just a isolated problem?

its a common problem if your belts are too loose

Although I guess with an underdrive pulley it is going to be more prevalent due to having less wrap angle around the pulley + the lower torque avail from the smaller dia. .......

T= Fx d where d= radius . Not bad considering its 20 yrs since I left school

Cool Less wrap.....

Yes, less wrap area doesn't help.

I think the AP pulley comes with it's own 'special' belt - might not be so special, maybe find an equivalent Gates model.
