Apex Seals?

According to a tech at Cybernation Morosports, the reason why the RX8 can't take more boost than 7\8 pounds is because the Apex Seals are very week. Does anyone know of a company that has or is developing stronger ones?

I thought that the seals were stronger than the FDs and that the problem was with the side seals catching the side port when put under too much boost. There's a thread on it somewhere in the forum.

I'm not knocking your source, but you should call Jim or another tech up at RacingBeat, they will be able to tell you the exact problem with too much boost on this engine.

Why does everyone keep saying the engine can't take a certain amount of boost? Pressure is irrelevant. It's how much air actually gets in the engine and how well it is tuned that counts, not what pressure it is at. If a shop owner says an engine can't take a certain amount of pressure before it blows up, I'd be very wary about doing any business with them as they don't know a thing about boost or how airflow works.

More boost = more stress on the motor and the seals. That might have been what he meant.
