Bad news about UR pullies...

On friday when i went to UR to get the pullies they just got the shipment of them and i waited for the engineer to double check the pullies to make sure they are good, they were and i took them home they looked great as far as i can see.

Saturday morning i went to put them on, took out the intake system and took off the water pump, then the crank pully. When i went to put the crank pully on i was able to put two of the bolts in but not the other two, after attempting a couple of times i took out the UR pully and matched it up the the stock one and the two of the UR holes were the bolts go through are off like 1 cm!!

Now i have to wait till monday to see what UR is going to do about this, and if all there pully's have this defect?

Did you check they gave you the right application?
It's not for a FD or something is it?

Hard to believe that they would overlook something like this throughout the entire r&d and manufacturing processes.

not too huge a deal, send them back because they obviously don't fit.

i too would tend to lean toward them being for the wrong car, some kind of mixup or something liek that.

On the RX-7's, the pulley only fits one way. The 4 mounting holes are not perfectly spaced and you have to rotate it until it fits right. This way you can't put it on wrong. If you do install it wrong, the timing marks don't line up. There are only 4 ways you can rotate it. See if they just put the timing marks on the wrong face.

As I understand it ONE hole is off so you can't get the timing disc on wrong. So you should not be able to get two bolts in if you are wrongly timed.
Still I'd look at that before I sent them back.

It's not like the 7, here there are four parts. The hub, the timing disc and two pulleys.
Not that I have ever seen one.

The concept is still the same Richard. There's only 1 way the holes line up.

theres only two different ways that you can rotate the pulley to put it on, and i matched up to the stock pulley in every combination possible.
I'll let u know what UR says.

Never buy anything from UR.

I've read several problems with people receiving the incorrect pullies from UR.

There you go, that's a good choice... Like no one else has problems. What would you say to someone if they said "I'm not buying an RX-8 becuase they have too many problems with their drive train"? But, that's just my 2 pennies.

So if the one you had wasn't the wrong one why did they give you a different one?
