Beatrush shifter collar

If there is a demand we could make these to fit stock shifters and also the '09-'10 units. My best advice would be to use aluminum silicon bronze. This is a material that was developed in WWll for valve guides. It is still used today in aluminum heads. Trouble is the cost. Yet how much material is there in these things? Not much. Aluminum wears out, SS is too hard and transfers HNV most.
The latest stuff we use is a glass impregnated nylon with MDS added.
We have been using it for 2 years now with no failures. Our parts do not fit the OEM units. You might get it on but it is not right. The interior shape must change.
It's not a matalic so if that is the order then go back to the other choices.
Installing metal units requires some slits so you can get it on and not fall off.
We have not tried the bronze yet but we did at one time buy the rod.
The dimentions will need to be different so the programs and tooling must change. Thus the reason we never tried it.
It might be a good intrum item for the '09-'10 units. We have drawn up SS for these but not built yet. Market being how it is right now we haven't commited the funds for that product.

I can't tell you exactly what it is but it's a engineering polimer that is machinable with carbide tooling. Also your instinct is correct because it is impregnated with MDS. So it is self lubricating.
We tried so many materials that I don't remember them all. This one has been in use for over 2 years now with no failures. Prior to that we used Kevlar and it was to brittle. We're happy with this stuff and are not looking for anything else.

well... i guess i'll be the test mule for the R-magic unit. just ordered it. will report back on how the part feels.
seeing as its a r-magic product, i'm sure of a pleasant result. and its bout the same as the beatrush unit, so why not?

mine came in from kami in 5 days, much faster than expected. my car is in the air right now waiting for me to install the new exhaust and paint the brake calipers, so I doubt I get the shift collar in before the weekend, but I'll follow up once it's in.

That bushing will not work right with my shifter.
If they did fit I'd be selling mine for stock replacement.
I might yet make them though.
I really wanted to do it for the '09-'10 but need a sample car so I can see how much we can tighten up the clearance. I could just make them to match stock but why not get the advantage of tighter tolorances?

Well Delrin works well for the pivot basket but didn't for the bushing. We went to Kevlar which works for awile but sometimes failed because it is brittle. The material we've been using now for over 2 years is the answer. I can't tell you exactly what it is because you can see how much work went into finding it.
Trust me it works. It's not that easy to machine and not cheap but it is the answer.

The new part for my AFE SS really took the slack away and the part now self lubricates providing for an exceptionally smooth shift!

Thank you for the information. You just save me about 30 bucks. Much appreciated.

Just use stainless steel, you can't tell any difference from any other metal or equally hardwearing plastic and it will outlive the shifter/trans/car.
They don't work with the AFE shifter because they have a bottom shelf that protrudes into the ID which interferes with the longer arm on that end. Just make it longer with an open ID. I don't really understan why they leave that bottom shelf in there. It doesn't serve any purpose that I can tell.

beatrush/r-magic shift color, A-ok upgrade!
r-magic shift color just arrived and installed (haha, they actually misspelled collar. there's some funny japanese grammer for ya)
install was simple and straight forward. you only need a 10mm socket and a pick/thin screwdriver tip.
the feel? well...it doesn't cure the shift play or any shifter vibration when in neutral. it isn't suppose to anyway.
the shift feel seem to be more solid, and grows as the trans warms up to operating temps... maybe from the obvious that its now a metal-on-metal part.
i can't give any credit to this collar giving my shift a slicker feel when shifting, as that can be from the hi-temp multi purpose grease...
don't expect miracles to happen. it won't shift as nice as a fwd cable linkaged honda overnight!
-BUT, i still heartily recommend this product, seeing as one person had a short shifter shifter collar shatter in pieces and fall into the trans. the stock unit don't seem much stronger, and may be of the same material as supplied in those short shifters. so it was more of a cautionary item, removing the weakest link, and upgrade.
all else may fail, but this isn't an area to point fingers to to blame.
capish?
