been looking at buying an rx8....

hey.. ive been looking at buying an rx8.... but the thing that i wonder about.... is the performance they offer. i love power, lots of it. i would be trading it in for a 02 mustang gt 5spd ragtop and i dynoed it at 278 rwhp with the mods i had done to it... is there anyway i can make a rx8 much faster than this? i would be intersted in turboing it... i rode in a turbo car last night and love it. also.. i need good mileage... if not the rx8... what else do you all suggest?

RX-8 Mileage is ~ 21-22 Highway...some people claim worse. If you get a RX8 make sure you buy the 6 speed.

As for a sports car that can get better MPG.....I would suggest a Honda S2000 that would get ~ 26MPG...but only carry two people.

That is the big problem, the S2000 and 350Z can only hold two people. The 8 can hold 4 easily.

The G35 Coupe would be a great car..it gets 26MPG on the highway also and can fit 4, but still look great. The G35 and 350Z have a lot of performance upgrades available (Turbos and Supercharges) Check out Stillen.com for some examples....Stillen is basically a Nissan shop at it's heart.

Evo VIII ~ 25MPG on the highway.

I'm puzzled by this post. I read that you want power! Something fast! You have an 8 cylinder Mustang now and you want more ability to speed? BUT! You want good gas mileage? You may want to consider two cars. 1) A '95 Civic and 2) RX-8/G35...... Good luck!

Finally, a ford owner admitting that it indeed is "Fix Or Repair Daily" !

My best suggestion for you would definatly be the G35. Looks MUCH nicer than the Evo and STI and still gets good gas milage. Also plenty of upgrades available.

How about a diesel volkswagon golf for the milage and a motorcycle for speed?

From your description the rx8 is not for you. It gets horrible gas mileage, and it doesn't make GOBS of power (well not yet). The 8 can easily out handle your mustang (if handling is your forte), it's unique and will easily stand out in a crowd of evo's, sti's, and 350's. If you want something different go for the 8. If you want a faster car go with an sti or evo. I didn't purchase the 8 for its power (obviously) but for its originality, handling, aesthetic looks, and because its a ROTARY! Also because I can rev to 9000rpm with no problem. Ask any Z owner if they can do that.

get a srt-4. Makes good power pretty good mileage too I believe. Also as a bonus doesn't cost that much.

Right now with the Greddy, the standalone fuel management unit, and the fact that we are several, several hundreds of pounds lighter than your Mustang GT you can get an RX8 that is a good bit faster than your Mustang, but it will take $$$. Also gas mileage is not good on our cars. PTP Motorsports is coming out with their turbo kit. That should give you 300 whp.

It's sad when ford owners finally realize that. :D
