BEST mods?

evening tuners! first off just wanted to say i finally own my very first rotary powered vehicle(05 winning blue GT M/T). that being said i have spent more time under and behind the wheel of the FD than some of it's owners. So down to business! Bassically what i need to know is what is the best "mods" to add for power and life. I'm not trying to go all out i just want to add a little fun factor and improve on mazdas short comings. ie, changing the oil to 10w30, removing the washer fluid adding 2 stroke oil and rerouteing a few oil lines for the motor, and what is this grounding box people are adding. And lets not forget about the bolt ons full exhaust, intakes, plugs and wires, BASIC ecu upgrades, stoppers(brakes) are already on the way. I'm not going to change the suspension but i will tighten up the body so what for the money are the best F/R sways, ties and all the other anti roll devices. Inconclusion thanks for all the info and i appoligies in advance for posting a thread i'm sure has been posted many times. I do not have time to do the reasearch myself i return to iraq in 8 days. wanted everything purshesed and ready when i ruturn in the spring. also currently running federal 595 225/45 18 after a little reasearch why would i ever change brands at $99 bucks a pop and better by many tire test then most tires you guys are running? What do you guys know about these tires i will be going with 245/40 R18 on the rears for summer.

Welcome to the forum! My list for your consideration
AFE short shifter
Sohn oil adaptor
Racing beat flash
Racing beat sway bars and links
Racing Beat cat back
AEM or Racing beat CAI

You'll get many opinions so you'll probably have to do some research anyway...
Happy modding!

Edit: You won't get near 275 RWHP NA

Since your model is from 2005, I would get some lowering springs and aftermarket shocks. Everything that Dark Brew suggested is good, maybe a Rotary Performance mid pipe with cat can be added???

Is impossible to get 275 whp, at least NOT for Natural aspirated.

Turbo is the only way.

You'd be lucky to get around 220 whp with bolt ons.

Even if you ported the motor you wouldn't get close to 275?

Oh, but then again it wouldnt be too reliable haha.

The only people who have gotten even close to 275 N/A is the peripheral ported one which got around ~260 and that's a pretty extensive mod. I think TeamRx8 was getting ~200 with a lot of bolt ons.

definately out of reach . If 210 odd whp is not enough for you - just go straight to a supercharger or turbo . Otherwise you will spend a lot of money only to be dissappointed .

My $0.02

1)Racing Beat Springs and Sways with Koni Shocks.
2)Mazsport ignition upgrade.
3)RB PCM reprogram or Cobb Accessport when it comes out in a few months.
4)Put Idemitsu pre-mix in your remote oil resivoir (from Mazdatrix)
5)After that intake and exhaust will get you a little power and a better sound. I have them at #5 due to my opinion of bang for the buck.

edit: Speedsource with their Grand-Am ST class Renesis motor made 260hp at the flywheel with their engine dyno in full race tune so the best to expect NA unported without power adders (turbo, SC, nitrous) is probably ~220hp at the wheels.

You could PM Charles R. Hill on his engine. He has ported it and probably has the highest potential NA RX8 on the forum.

To this day I still can't understand for the life of me why people are so in love with the racing beat springs. Sways I can understand, but the springs make no sense. You can get more aggressive spring rates and a lower drop for a lower price in the Teins. Even the Tanabe GF's provide a more aggressive stance with almost equal front spring rates and more aggressive rear spring rates, while costing less.

Sorry for being somewhat off topic, it's just been bothering me for a while.

^^Because not everyone wants the lowest most aggressive springs they can buy. We're not all the same as you friend.

Most people want an increase in performance and don't want to sacrifice the comfort driving around town if they can help it. Racingbeat springs are a good compromise for people looking for improvements with little impact on their family etc.

No spring alone is going to make the car feel jaw dropping because of the spring rates... Pretty much every spring is very conservative in all aspects save a few of them (sprint, autoexe, etc...) Plus the pricing factor is another thing that makes me scratch my head further more.

Guess it's just me.

Hipermax III are coilovers, the dude who sold me the set said that they're pretty durable and drops about 1 inch compare to stock. and HKS will replace it for free for the first 2 years (or 48000km or something I forgot) if theres any problem.

I dunno man .... Im thinking to buy a set of sways to go with it. still thinking.
