best pads and rotors
So I'm thinking about swapping out my pads on the car because they are beginning to squeal... and I don't exactly love it.
But, I want to add some drilled and slotted rotors.
I am not looking to break the bank, esp on the pads.
So does anyone have a suggestion for a good set of rear and front pads that will get the job done for a fair enough price. And a set of rotors that is also good, but not looking to race it or anything, just improve performance slightly, and try to eliminate squeal...
Oh, and I would get this done at a shop, I am not familiar enough with bleeding brakes and such.

Hawk Ceramic pads myself. My rotors also went out of spec so I installed Racing Brake Sport (w/curved vanes).
As Charles cites, the noise is from the pads, not the rotor type. Slotted/drilled/vaned type sport rotors dissipate braking heat more readily than stock.

My Hawk ceramic pads are at end of life and they have never squeeled ever., and very little dust. Only negative about the ceramic is that they only lasted about 5,000Km's
ps. unless you are talking about the wear indicator, it is designed to scratch/squeel on the rotor when the pads are low.

Hawk claim high mileage for the ceramic pads, so I was very surprised to see them almost gone with only about 5,000Km's of normal road use. I think there might be another 1,000Km's left on them (I guess) but I need to replace them now because I head to France next Saturday for a driving holidays (3 weeks of sun I hope).

5000km out of pads? That's ridiculous. I just put RacingBrake front rotors on mine yesterday, with Hawk Performance Ceramic pads, and if I only get about 3k miles out of them I will be beyond angry. I got the pads for about $150 + shipping ($80 front axle, $70 rear) from Fluid Motorsports. There has apparently been some trouble getting fronts from Hawk, but if you talk to Brice at Fluid I am sure he can get you squared away.
I haven't read a single bad review of the Hawk Ceramics, so they might be your best bet.

The thing is I had Hawk HP+ on the car before these Hawk ceramics and got about 12,000Km's and that included about 6 trackdays.
I cannot fault the ceramics braking performance, dust free and quiet but mileage not so good.
With the HP+ pads the dust was bad and also the tendency to squeel under light braking was the only reason I tried the ceramics and probably will again, so I do recommend them but just not good mileage has been my experience.
PS. maybe I am heavy on the pedal.
