yea but the TurboXS pipe had no resonators the RB pipe has two massive resonating chambers
im not very mechanical lol but im telling you man it definitely affected acceleration
and i know for a fact it affected gas milage because i check it everytime i fill up
no chance i got a bad pipe is there?

ok after this issue continued to bug me I got to thinking and realized I forgot that at the same time that I changed the midpipe I also changed wheels/tires.
they are actually lighter so weight is not the issue but these wheels are 8.5" wide instead of 8" like stock wheels were (245 instead of 225 tires)
this could be to blame for the gas milage change but I wouldn't think its related to the sluggishness and decrease in acceleration

Some advice, I have the loud as all hell TurboXS full exhaust. I couldn't take the noise. I had a shop weld v-band / turbo clamp flanges on the back of both my RP Supercat and the TurboXS mid pipe. One bolt in the back, makes swapping very easy. I do feel more top end power with the straight pipe than with the RP, I get a little more low end grunt with the RP, probably due to back pressure. I had to have a resonator welded onto the RP, as it was too damn loud even with the cat. I have thought about getting the RB dual res pipe and welding a v-band flange on it to see if it is quieter than what I have and just keep the RP for emissions testing. Haven't been willing to pay for it yet.

I doubt it is the pipe, unless it is clogged, make sure it isn't clogged. I was on track with another 8 with that pipe, I had the TurboXS on, back straight at Road Atlanta is very long and we drag raced the entire length. I gained maybe a car length before the braking zone. Something else sounds like a culprit.

i have no idea then...only other difference is the wheels/tires (actually lighter)
wish i would have checked the airflow on the Cobb AP before i changed out midpipes

I also run lighter and slightly smaller wheels / tires on track, some gearing advantage and some weight advantage, but nothing drastic. I'd seriously look into the v-band arrangement, then you can swap fairly quickly. I can swap mine in 15 minutes if I am organized (I end up having to get one wrench or another usually..track excitement).

the set of wheels/tires that yielded you better mpg, did it also happen to have a smaller overall diameter than the other set? this would alter your speedometer and odometer readings to read higher than actual speed, thus giving you more miles between fill ups = higher mpg.

everyone who says they get great mileage, i wonder if they are on stock wheel / tire profile because that would certainly change their mpg readings.

So. Much. Fake. "Science".

I don't even know where to begin.

If your mileage changes with the change of midpipe, what do you think is going on with your lambda? (rhetorical question)

"Straight-through" for light doesn't mean straight-through for gas. Exhaust does funny things since it is effectively a fluid that is changing mass at a very high rate during its trip through your exhaust system. "Resonators" are just fancy-names mufflers. How they do their muffling is very important to flow.

I could go on, but I don't care enough to continue...

the new wheels/tires are actually the same diameter...slight less (like 2mm) not even enough to change the speedometer reading by 1/4mph

i dont know how all that works I just know I lost power when I changed from a straight pipe to the RB dual resonated midpipe

So if having unrestrictive exhaust is important for power, what do you think adding a restriction (2 resonators) in it does?

It makes sense that you lost power from a straight pipe to one with stuff in the way of the exhaust flow.

i wish i would have had my AP installed when I had the straight pipe so I could tell how much for sure
speaking of which...i need to email you Jeff...havent got my confirmation for data logs...not in a rush just wanna make sure you got it but thats another story
