Bhr coils, cobb, fuel pump what else..
Hello Im going to be getting a RX8 hopefully this weekend blown engine,. If everything goes well.,
My plans are rebuild engine ,,do a Mild Mild Port engine,, getting BHR coils have heard lots of great things, Getting a upgraded Fuel Pump.. and Not sure about COBB ACCESS PORT ,, I think I should.,
Well I know theirs alot of info out their but I been searching and Is hard to go thru it. I need this kinda fast since it will be this weekend and I need to start buying parts since this will be my daily .. and I need to check on my budget .
what fuel pump would you guys recommend . ? I mention this since car is a 2004 and is having starting issues . can be many things I know,
I know BHR coils is in my list. A must I believe .
Now COBB.,. can I wait till I get car running decend then get this since is kinda pricey ,,? honesty please .. Ive heard lots of great things ..
Later on in my plans are Racing beat headers and mid pipe , and thats it since my real project is my RX3..
Thanks in advance .
Or should I got with a 13bre swap turbo rebuilt >? not my idea but my buddies that have rebuilt rx8 engine and say why not go wit more power from the get go..
Thanks

Renessis
Very new to Renessis Engine .. Is easy to get a loan and add mods but to start off and finish a daily project on this car and get it done won't be easy. My wife tells me get a newer one and that's it, What's the fun on that. I've been in rotary world about 10 years or so had my few share of Rotary cars but this one seems more complex .. since kids are older and my son soon will be driving and this will be his. His 1st call he moved for me was a 1st gen when he was 7 years old so is a Passion to get it right . ;-)

I would never take out a loan to modify a car... That's just me.
The engine isn't any more complex... The intake and exhaust ports have a different configuration than the 13b, and most of the controls are electrical instead of mechanical, but other than that, it's pretty much the same as any 6 port 13b. Works the same in theory.
If you're not putting a completely stock engine in the car, then you're going to have to tune it. So unless you're fine with spending another $2000 later cause your motor popped from not being tuned, I would suggest that the first thing on your list be an AP and coils. If you're only considering a "small port" then consider that a bridge port tested in a full race set up by Eric Myers only put down about 10~15 more HP than a well tuned stock port. So a small port may only net you 1~5HP for $200 or more... not really worth the trouble IMO.
Engine, AP, and coils alone may put you over budget. What you have to decide is how much power you want. Expect port work to net you MAYBE 5~15HP tops depending on tuning, setup, and build quality. Anything over 220HP, you're looking at a turbo or super charger on a normal persons budget. You could probably squeeze NA out to 330HP, but you're talking more money than that 10~20HP is worth for a street car.

Ok I guess I want my car somewhat stock.
Im defently getting Upgraded coils ,
question now is I dont want to start a new thread, Apex Seals..
Does ALS make for renesis , if not whats my best choice , Emeril, PTS seals, atkins, goopy. looks like I be picking up my 8 saturday. So Im trying to see what else Im missing to start ordering parts.
I almost had 1 car sold today didnt have title on me NICE. And my other Project didnt do nothing since wife worked today, had my kids , reason I mention is hoping I dont have any cars here so when I get car this weekend I start taking engine out ASAP.

go with stock apex seals for an NA engine if you insist on rebuilding.
You just better hope that blown engine has something left you can work with. You may come out ahead by buying a used low milage engine that has a yr guarantee or so, installing it and then making it a DD. The you would have the blown engine to work with if you want to modify anything later on.
NA engines actually are pretty stout if you dont worry about a little lost of power as they wear some. Maintainence and temperture controls ( coolant and oil) are your main concerns with the RX8.

^ well I have not confirm is a blown engine hopefully is a simple coil or fuel pump issue I will check it when I get it or even a water or oil seal will see tomo
And you mention ( coolant and oil ) I know it waste oil I always watch that . What about coolant . How can I resolve it.
And why stock apex seals over other brands

You're misunderstanding what OD is saying...
The motor gets hot. So make sure that your oil and water COOLING are sufficient for your setup.
Why NOT stock apex seals? other seals don't seal any better, and you don't need the strength of ceramic unless you're going FI, but even then it's not necessary.
These motors typically fail from the side seal spring wearing out due to flame front heat. It has little to do with the apex seals.
