Oh, NO!! The veil of secrecy has been lifted and I am about to see my midpipe sales diminish.... what will I do!!?? Then, again, Sipe; "ghetto fabulous" is your middle name.
Others will do themselves a HUGE favor by avoiding the Moroso muffler as I tried seven of them years ago and all but one literally fell apart within a month. That is why I now have the gentlemen who actually holds the patent on the spiral-flow design directly manufacture the mufflers/resonators I use in the BHR Midpipe.

Not sure why you are being so dramatic otherwise? Guess I forgot to mention modifying it for my own purpose. Peace out bub ....

I too am experiencing the noises as described in the last few pages. They appeared a day or so after I had my midpipe and after I did my initial review on my trouble shooting thread. The sound is almost unbearable at low rpms and taking off from idle. The first time it made the noise I jumped out of my car assuming my pipe was dragging on the ground - it sounds like someone threw metal shavings in my resonator or something. The noise tends to go away after some spirited driving I believe, but the initial pulling out of my driveway and the slow driving till I'm out of my neighborhood is embarrassing.

FYI, not posting this to start anything at all, but just to confirm that it isn't something specific to me, but for those that are experiencing noises, are these the noises you have as well?
Sorry I took this from the driver side, i can get from passenger tomorrow if it isn't clear enough, but it is that metal jangling sound. FYI it has done this from the beginning, even took off the mp and tried reseating it a few times.
No big deal really ... funny thing is that \it sometimes sounds like a weak *** stroker lol.

Yeah that's the same sound I get actually. It only sounds like that at idle though. I figured it was normal/hitting a heat shield. Mine has no catalyst so I know there's no chance of that causing an issue. The sound doesnt really bother me too much though, I just got used to it. I'm staying tuned to see if there's an explanation behind it though.

Maybe there is a portion of the material used as the silencer contacting another metal surface within the pipe.

I may be mistaken but i believe the internal structure is a spiral that helps attenuate noise. I am not sure if that is prone to break down as I never took one apart. I'm not looking to sound the sirens here, just want to make sure I'm not the only one or if it was something I did.

oh cool, didn't even notice the option was gone. Van just an FYI my MP isn't polished and it is almost on its first full year of use. The year included a bunch of autocrossing, and a harsh winter and there is no abnormal discoloration or wear or rusting of any sort. Not sure if that was the reason you queried about polishing, or if you were just looking for some bling
Charles; any comment on the noises in the videos i posted above? Are these the 'normal' noises that we expect this type of resonator to make? thx

have any of the reported cases (I think I saw one or two others) ever came back as a problem with the resonator you use?
Keep in mind, I have no such problems. My BHR midpipe is just as solid today as it was the day I bought it. Am merely curious of the MTBF / etc.

Such noises are not "normal" but as to their causes; I can't diagnose that from a video even while using my studio headphones or awesome Klipsch earbuds. I have seen some cases where OEM cat material was lodged in the muffler and bouncing around on idle.
This is not to imply that I am unwilling to consider a potential problem with the resonator in each of these cases but I need to be careful with simply replacing resonators for people with such concerns.

Anyway, I completely understand, I know that it isn't cat material because I still have my old cat which only had like 14k miles on it and the honeycomb is still intact. I will remove the midpipe this weekend just to take a gander inside to see if i can uncover any more information

I have a somewhat similar but not as intruding noise in the video posted above, but it doesn't happen during idle; only on low revs during cold starts. When my car is warmed up, the noise completely disappears. I've been running on my BHR mid-pipe for about a month now when I bought it secondhand from a forum member and have yet to encounter any problems aside from the intermittent noises on cold starts. Other than that I love the product and it is definitely top notch quality and worth every penny.

Well I did put my midpipe back on 2 days ago which was a nice change, but I think there deff is something wrong with how I installed it. I initially had the issue when I first installed it, only not as bad as this.
When I rev my engine to say like 5-6k once warm in neutral, if I take my foot of the gas and let the revs drop, between 3.5-2k climbing down, there is just a horrible noise that sounds similarly to Paimon's vid. I cannot see anywhere where it would be hitting a heat shield. I will take a video sometime this week Have you ever shifted into reverse, but it was not engaged fully? You press the gas and you hear the gears just spin freely but you dont move at all? That's what it sounds like.
I did not get this sound with my aftermarket exhaust/cat hookup. Hmm... I do know that when I tightened the nuts that secure the OEM cat springs, I tightened them pretty much all the way. Is that a concern? Should it be more loose?

Mine has been making a noise since I first got it... I never took it off despite the noise... Here's my Video I took awhile ago...
With that being said... Seems alot of people having more and more problems with this...

Yep, i first noticed my noise when i was pulling into my garage as the noise would reverb off the walls of the garage as the rpm's fell.
I considered that, and I tried various tightness with no fix. I am starting to wonder if the noise is actually the front crush gasket between the midpipe and the exhaust manifold not sealing properly and rattling. Again, I will be doing more investigating when i throw my car up on stands this weekend.

Yeah deff let me know what you find man. I've had trouble getting that front gasket to place just right. Not to mention, if I look at the seal between the header and the midpipe, I can see the tiniest tiny gap between the metal seal, but I'm assuming that the gasket should make up for that. I am thinking that if it is just I'm bad at placing that front crush seal in there, maybe I can put a tiny bit of some kind of adhesive on the seal to the correct spot on the midpipe just to get it in place while installing it.
