so is there a point in installing a midpipe in a NA car without AP?

J8635621 09-22-2009 05:17 PM

More power and sound lol? Also don't have to worry about the cat dying.

yes. ;)

Anything to let your car breathe easier is worth it.

Red_Fox 09-22-2009 09:54 PM

but getting pulled over and caught with a midpipe is not gonna be a happy ending

Jedi54 09-22-2009 10:44 PM

^^ especially in Cali

Ross_Dawg 09-23-2009 02:17 AM

oh boo hoo ;)

Did you tell MM that you needed to mask the cel? I believe that is something you need to tell him so he can program it (the flash) correctly.

Wankel_Rotor 09-23-2009 06:20 PM

so the only disadvantage to having a midpipe without the AP is the my rx8 will flash the engine lights at me, right? the midpipe actually doesn't hurt the engine in anyway?

Jedi54 09-23-2009 06:23 PM

midpipe can't hurt the engine, it's after the engine.
A well placed little black sticker can fix the CEL.

HockeyRX-8 09-23-2009 06:24 PM

your cel will stay on all the time and no the midpipe wont hurt your engine

mysql101 09-23-2009 06:24 PM

problem with ignoring the CEL is that if you get a real issue that creates a CEL, you won't know.

So most people prefer to remove just the 'cat malfunction' cel, so that any other issues are known immediately.

Cobb AccessPort

shazy 09-23-2009 06:39 PM

No. It helps it breath and you get 8-11whp from it.

I wonder how much power you would gain from a full exhaust. I was thinking around 20whp and more.

The light won't flash... just stay on solid.
It will however still flash if you have a mechanical issue even with the CEL on for the O2 sensor.

If your O2 sensor breaks, you'll still get a CEL because its not functioning at all.

Could be ported for that idling sound. Can't help you on the midpipe/exhaust question though =\

true, it sounds a bit like 20b idling but when he revs it, its definitely a renesis.

HockeyRX-8 09-23-2009 10:22 PM

sounds like it's turbo'd
