It's awesome to come back in this thread after only a few days and find out that the catted version is already here! That is great news!

Were you guys able to pass your local emissions test with this cat? Would it be possible to see what kind of readings (NOx, HC, CO) you walked away with?

How about those people, such as Robert (onefatsurfer), who patiently waited over a year without complaining nor buying any other midpipe when they very easily could have walked away from BHR?

How about those who bought our first versions of this midpipe, most of which ended up having fucked-up resonators on them, and have not complained nor created controversy over the matter?

THESE are the people who need to be thanked. Not the BHR team who were simply doing our jobs in this whole mess.
Having trouble reading these days?

Whether you are a soon to be or an existing customer I'm sure I can speak for the team in extending a thanks to all of you as well. You have all encouraged us by offering feedback as well as positive statements about this product. You have been very patient and those first who purchased midpipes were beyond patient. The BHR team prides itself on the wonderful customers we have.
Damn, only in BHR would I say thank you to EVERYONE and still get lectured. Sheesh.

I understand this, I was simply asking because Todd mentioned the following:

I'm unsure what the state regulations are for cars that are still tagged but fail emissions would be. So, that being said I don't want to get myself into a situation where I have to deal with that nonsense.

I talked with Ray the other evening about this and it doesn't make much sense for us to offer a catted version unless we know that it will pass some kind of emissions standards. We can't account for everything but if it passes here in Arizona then that's enough for us to have confidence in it. Right now the question is will it last with the high EGT's and the massive amounts of oil that I run in my car.
... and I simply wanted to follow up to see if this was still something you guys were committed to. If yes, by sharing the results your e-test we (buyers) could independently decide if the extra expense for the cat would allow us to meet emissions regulations locally.

Perhaps I spoke to soon. Ray's the boss so if he's confident in the product then that's what we'll run with. In regards to US emissions testing, anything that is 1996 or 1998 and newer no longer gets sniffed with perhaps a couple exceptions.

The only way you fail an emissions test with newer vehicles is if you throw a check engine light. If it's true that the DaveSport cat doesn't do that then it should be compliant for nearly everything.

New Jersey is one of those exceptions. They sniff the **** out of our cars here

Opposite here Flash, in CT if your car is 10-12 yrs old (IIRC) then you don't need an emissions test. If it's newer than that, its mandatory and they check your cels so if the O2 throws one then we fail.

However, did I ever formally announce such a test was to take place? I don't recall making any kind of insinuation. TODD did that and I guess this episode can serve as a reminder to everyone what the BHR pecking order is, especially Flashwing.

Federal emissions standards in the United States are what they are and the factory PCM is programmed to identify whether or not the factory catalytic converter is properly functioning. If the DaveSport cat does not illuminate a 420 CEL, I think that is all we can reasonably expect from it.

Those who have their doubts can install a cat on their own and the rather pricey HJS unit may be what they are looking for.
Thanks Ray. I understand your POV and it is very reasonable.

Sadly up here we still get sniffer tests!

In your opinion (and I am not asking for a guarantee here), would the HJS pass a sniffer test? I don't suppose it's an option to order it from you with the HJS cat?

So...you don't get a cel and you want to quit? I must be lost, because not having a cel I thought would be a good thing?

He is just saying that without long term testing, he doesn't want to say that it will do any better or any worse than the manufacturer claims. He is just giving us the option of including that cat with the midpipe to see how it does for ourselves, based on what we need in our states.

All he can say at this point is that is doesn't trigger a CEL, but not if it will pass a sniffer test, or how quickly it may fail.

I'm just looking for the next unit MM may go with to hide the cel, and then go cat-less mid pipe....if that ever happens

Another question then I will stop being a pain in the *** (maybe )

Can someone comment on the smell with the Davesport cat? Does it smell close to catless or close to the OEM cat?

Apologies for the interrogations but the fines are ridiculously stiff up here (4-digits + impound) and I simply want to make an informed choice

That is good news as even if the cat doesn't pass e-test, I can swap it for that, AND I can run this pipe on the street without being harassed.

Now to ensure the wife doesn't get too pissed (which should be fine). Yay midpipe time!

Have you by any chance figured out shipping to Canada?

It would probably be easier if he just installed an ODB2 port in his skull, and we just ran the cable from the ECU over to his head.

We could fit a wideband in his nose and Velcro a gauge to his forehead.
