Question...

If you put the pipe up against your ***...Would your farts sound better? Deaper tone? No buzz?

Who's gonna try it? I'm only weird enough to come up with this ****...Not to try it.

Anyways...After the install this weekend I will post pics and vids...of THE CAR!

Installation was a breeze... not only is the pipe very light but the hanger is smaller than before, so it's much easier to get into the rubber gromet!

Alright just finished driving it around for awhile... AWESOME! Very similar sounding to the V1 pipe where its very quiet at low rpm's, daily driving. Once you pound on the throttle though it's music to your ears It may be my ears, but I think I notice less rasp in this pipe than the V1. (the very minimal rasp that there is to begin with)

The build quality is also excellent as well. As I mentioned earlier, the hanger is a smaller circumference than the V1, which makes getting it into the rubber gromet a 2 second job, instead of a 1 minute fight like with the stock cat hanger. All the welds are perfect, some even better than the V1 pipe!

I didnt get a chance to weigh the pipe before putting it on but it's VERY light. I could easily hold up the pipe under the car with one hand while putting bolts on whereas with the stock cat it's a pain in the ***.

Just throwing this out there: If you are exchanging between stock cat and this midpipe, you will need: 17mm, 15mm, 14mm, and 12mm, along with some pliers for the O2 sensor.

Talking BHR in High Definition...uh...iPhone4

First I will start with the Juicy stuff cause lets face it we are all about imediate satisfaction!

Disclaimer: all done from my iphone so some of the videos are side ways...LOL!

Setup: Greddy exhaust, K&N air filter, and BHR mid pipe.

So...

First start after pipe installed: OMFG that **** sounds aggressive!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8dqz6YDpTY

The smoke was penetrating oil used during disasembly...I just didn't put 1 and 1 together.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EdSCiN8X2bU

A short drive...I think I peel out a little

These came out a bit bad...the sound kicks in and out but that should be me closing the window and opening again but I dont remember...

My Issues

I think I might have an exhaust leak and I think the hanger might have been bent during shipping cause I am getting a rattling noise when the AC kicks in (sometimes). This is honestly not anoying me in the least but I will have it addressed with my mechanic.

The Check Engine light came on.

So I went into Discount Auto and got the codes read...I left the paper work in the car but I will post the exact code tomorrow. The guy at Discount said the code mentioned an exhaust leak amongst other reasons for the code so I will have my mechanic check it out again. KEEP IN MIND...the check engine light only came on after a FULL day of having fun...At night during a very spirited drive. I can only assume due to heat the system expanded a bit and just needs to be torqued down a bit.

Also...the mechanic said the spring included in the kit was too short and he was forced to use the stock one instead. He stated it was not applying enough force? Could this be why I have an exhaust leak (assumption...not proven)? Cause he did not use the springs you provided?

My Review

Let me start by saying this...I was getting to the point of wanting to abandon my engine for something different. While I can not say with certanty that this is still not the case I can say that BHR has created a mid pipe that rekindled my desire to hear my engine make music. It is that good.

Review:

I like the way my car sounded before the mid pipe but what everyone here has said is true...The sound across the whole rpm range is soooo much more consistant. It sounds like an NA race car to be honest but nowhere near as loud. Even the smell from the exhaust reminded me of the speed source race cars...All I would need to complete the smell, if you will, would be to run 100% ethanol.

Although at first I did think it was a tiny...tiny bit to loud but then again I never had a mid pipe on any car I've owned in the past and I get the feeling it might be due to the exhaust and not the midpipe. After a full day of driving I found myself wanting to get back in the car just to listen to the engine make more music and I realized something...When you like a song...You raise the volume! I don't find it loud anymore. To be fair I have heard Rx8's with resonated pipes before...this is not as loud.

Pro's:
But dyno approved
Sounds GReaaaat!
Car much more responsive in the mid range

Con's:
It reminds me more and more that my engine is dying. My mid range is AWSOME (3k to 6k)!!! Then my engine revs past 6k and I hear that noise turbo rotary's used to make before they go (quote from my mechanic). This happened before the mid pipe install but now its worse for one reason only...The mid pipe was making me happy before I hit the 6k mark and then my engine just fuggs it up. Basically a **** tease!
