Charles...

Another bit of information...A complement if you will.

I was talking to my mechanic/owner Edger at MazdaPro's in Hollywood Florida and he said he was very impressed with the quality of the mid pipe. He stated it was one of the best looking mid pipes he has seen and he works on alot of rotary's. :naughty:

The JIC also uses a thick flange, as the bolts/springs you supplied worked flawlessly. They tightened down the exhaust very well (even better than the V1 where I had a small exhaust leak there). Great report caveman!

RotaryMachineRx 09-20-2010 12:54 PM

Looks like I'll be reusing the stock springs :(

My installer had no issues using the stock springs.

BTW...I deleted the CEL and it hasn't come back so far so if it is an exhaust leak it's probably only happens during extreme driving...Like I was doing the other night. I'll stop by the mechanics this weekend and have him shhhheck it out. :icon16: The bolts probably need to be re-torqued.

Okay thanks Charles... I sent you a PM and also an email about my IC outlet elbow... the piece I got is not the correct one; hoping you can get around to looking at that today as I was hoping you could send the proper piece with my midpipe and fuel line adapter

cavemancan 09-21-2010 04:59 PM

Can I kill a thread or what?! Sheesh no one posted anything for a while...I have powers I tell ya!

you guys nailed this one.
i've tried 2 midpipes and neither one stayed on for more than 2 days.
i couldn't stand the noise. this pipe is perfect all the way thru to 9k.
i have the RB cat back and had to use the stock springs, no problem.
on a side note, my cat after 110k is toast which explained the
check eng lite at 7-9k for misfires. looking thru the outlet it looked fine
but with our borescope thru the O2 hole it looked like the grand canyon
full of melted honey combs. so if your getting misfire codes at high rpms,
and still running a cat, don't rely on the appearance thru the outlet it can be deceiving.

I'd love to get one of these with a second 02 bung and have it installed while my car is already in the shop. Unfortunately I'm going to need it out of the shop in three weeks. Is the shipping time quote on the website accurate for three weeks or can it come sooner? :)

I don't want to ship any more pipes until I get the new boxes as I am tired of having customers shipments arrive as if the truck ran over them. :)

Well, considering how long I've been in Afghanistan, I'm used to all my boxes coming in looking like they were ran over, several times. Something about the Army's postal system that just doesn't understand "fragile".

I'll stay subscribed to this thread to check in and see when you get the boxes in. I'll probably order mine later this month, it would just be a great addition in with my nitrous build, which will be coming soon!

Okay, this is turning into a real problem for me. I should have just bought a family car (wait I did). I got the pipe on and love it but now I am just itching for a header and cat back system. It seems like the engine could benfit from a custom tune after the install so now I will ned to get a cobb. I drive all day so needed a quiet solution andthis is it. This is going to be a never ending chain of upgrades I am sure. As long as BHR keeps making parts I will keep buying them. Charles, thanks for all the help and quick responses to my questions.

cavemancan 09-22-2010 05:08 PM

This maybe completely unrelated or just the computer getting used to the midpipe but I've seen a substantial increase in MPG...not to mention Butt Dyno Power.

Previous average with my craziness driving: 210 miles per tank

Current average after one tank with my craziness driving: 251 miles per tank

:naughty::yumyum:

I dont care too much about the mileage but the power is awesome in the mid range.

I tried to submit this "trader" score review but I keep getting an error so I will put it here. I will remove if inappropriate but I feel Charles and his team have done a great job yet again!

I am writing this because of numerous reasons. Charles and his team have offered there assistance even when it seemed unreasonable for a vendor to offer assistance.

- I distinctly remember when Charles helped me and my brother, over the phone on a weekend, in replacing a seal.
- He's coached me on all possible scenarios with my cars current aliments.
- And now with the BHR mid pipe where UPS decided to destroy the original box it came in...Then repackage the pipe in another box but left out all the gaskets. Charles priority shipped the gaskets to my office and I received them very quickly.
- I also received help from Flashwing when researching my HID's and he recommended an excellent product.

What more can I say? It feels like I have a support contract with a company. How can one receiving such great products and service to match? It is a rare occurrence.

Regards,

Chris

i had to bend my hangar to get the pipe to fit during installation. It was hanging out of the box when I received it. I have a nasty rattling from underneath my car in the rear when the AC kicks on...sigh...I suppose Ill have to investigate whats going on. I saw a previous post in this thread mentioning the same thing :crying:

Same but my installer bent the hanger and resolved the problem...Took 10 min to fix. :naughty:

cavemancan 09-26-2010 09:55 PM

OK so I found out what the check engine light is:

P0420 - Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold

Charles,

I am guessing this is indicating I might have a bad O2 sensor? My assumption is based on that not many, if any, have a CEL after installation and my car has 92k miles and the sensor may not be functioning as quickly as it used too.

Should I try buying a new sensor to get rid of the CEL? I am trying to get the motor covered under warrantee and I would prefer no CEL's when I turn it in.

My records indicate that you have a catless midpipe, and the 420 CEL is normal in that case.

My apologies...I made a poor assumption and to be honest now that I think of it I am not sure why I assumed it would not throw a CEL. :(

If you wish I can remove all mention of the CEL.

Anyways...I eventually will get the COB flash tuner but is there an easy way to eliminate the CEL? Like I mentioned before I wanted to take the car in for a possible engine warrante.

Easy_E1 09-27-2010 12:18 AM

No easy way to eliminate it. Only with the Cobb AP or a Catalytic converter.

just put your cat back on for the trip to the dealer.

That won't work for two very good reasons that are not so obvious due to my vagueness of the situation at hand...

1) The dealer was already implying that I may need to replace the CAT in order to get the motor warrantee'd.
2) It went into the gar-bagggge :cwm27:

So you see either way I would have been SOL.

cavemancan 09-27-2010 12:37 AM

If I got the Cobb and I tuned the Rx8...Would they know? :suspect:
