Charles, I've been thinking about this shipping issue. I really think there are some UPS workers ripping into boxes that have thinks rattling around in them, especially when the label says "Black Halo Racing". I think they hear a loose bag'o'swag in there and punch a hole in it to get at it. I say this because I've had issues with shipments from other merchants, same issue; looks like someone ripped a hole - never a clean cut, and not like the box was crushed.

Short of packing the whole box with those effing styrofoam peanuts, I'd say put the gaskets and such in a heavy zippy and tape that bitch firmly to the midpipe so nothing rattles. I'd even tape the captured flange on the pipe.

I have another idea involving C4, but let's see if a simpler method helps...

My catted pipe came yesterday. Looks great. I will be putting it on this weekend. The box was in good shape when I got it but LA is relatively close to Phoenix. If the box were filled Styrofoam peanuts (or any packing material at all) to keep the pipe in place I doubt there would be any issues.

Mine has arrived today in Norway. Seemed to take the path over the ocean very well so there was no reason to be concerned. A little hole where something else in the package poked out, but not big enough for anything to fall out.

The midpipe (with cat) looks fantastic, can't wait to get this puppy on. But I'm a bit undecided on when to actually do it since the winter is coming and I've got a cold garage

Once again thanks Charles for great service and products.

Just a set of sways in addition to the pipe, they seemed to be locked into some sort of position so they probably just moved a bit back and forth in one angle. Didn't see any visible scratches. I believe if the package was to be shipped around between 3-4 more points they'd probably bang it enough for the tape to loosen at the middle. But as it was now it was good.

I believe the conclusion of your shipping problems is: let the package spend the least amount of time in the US as possible

(and the screaming monkey was awesome )

Is there any difference in your midpipe for a M/T or A/T? All the bends and connections the same?

Got mine in today, it sounds good. Question about the rear hardware. The Racing Beat catback has a skinny flange, so I used the new bolts, stock springs, and the new nuts (stock nuts don't fit on the new bolts). On the bolt there is nothing to tighten the nuts too, the threads just end and there is no lip like the stock bolts. Therefor there is nothing to torque the bolt against. I had to leave the nut floating mid way on the threads with the springs somewhat compressed, but not solidly connected to anything even close to the stock torque spec. Am I missing something?

edit - and the washers on the front connection tore in half when I tightened those. I left them for now.

If you haven't heard much lately I'd assume it's ok though. Mine DID have swaybars knocking it about a bit and still stuff were seated well on that long trip.

I might be beating on a dead horse.. but maybe someone's had the same thing happen. I have a tracking number, but it hasn't moved from 'acceptance' in Chandler since 11/2/2010 at 11:56 am. Is the type of item that USPS just doesn't update? It has an expected delivery date.. but this is the first time I've had a tracked item NOT update....

That is normal for USPS. The number you get is a confirmation number and not a tracking number.

Probably a residual effect from dealing with the dishonesty of other vendors in the past. Asking the community is subconsciously a better method in case anyone else knows about something fishy going on.

Just a theory.

1. Comfort. It is easier to ask a question in some thread vs. calling/emailing/PMing/texting someone.
2. People do not want to think their questions are stupid or have been asked several times and have vendors get annoyed with them.
