It would probably be unnecessary, so I doubt they ever tested it

You might end up with a stealth rx8 that's quieter than a Prius

I think I remeber Charles saying it doesn't really change the sound any. I would imagine it would just make the pipe much more expensive and heavier.

Let us know :)

Preliminary reports (via text) say that it sounds the same as it did with the hi-flow cat.

RIWWP 11-10-2010 02:19 PM

You were in the test drive with mine. I'm closing in on 15,000 miles with the pipe on, and no drone or rasp here.

WinningRX8Chick 11-10-2010 02:22 PM

I mean same by volume (forgot to clarify)... I asked about drone but haven't gotten an answer. He'll find out on the way home. I'm hoping it relieved the muffler some so it isn't shoved into the heat shield anymore..

J8635621 11-10-2010 02:46 PM

I think he said 2 of those resonaters that close together would cause the whole world to quit making sounds.

WinningRX8Chick 11-10-2010 03:52 PM

That begs the question for someone who doesn't feel like searching (don't flame me please!!!!).... What kind of catback??

Long trips will be more tolerable now. I'm excited!

SayNoToPistons 11-10-2010 04:01 PM

I am contemplating about welding one of the BHR resonators onto a cheap used 3" midpipe. For the price being offered on each item, it is quite a deal if I do the work myself.

Hopefully this question hasn't been answered already but what would be the advantage of getting the pipe polished? I assume it would help to counteract rusting over time? Any merit to that assumption or additional benefits?

Street cred

no, no additional benefit other than aesthetics... they are both Stainless Steel..

RIWWP 11-10-2010 07:14 PM

If your car spends alot of time in the air with people under it and not driving it, then polishing the pipe will make them talk about the pipe a bit more.

WinningRX8Chick 11-10-2010 07:36 PM

Just drove the 8.... oohhh myyyy gooood. It sounds amazing. I can hear my intake again!! No drone!! Pure sex.

I will be honest and say I am lazy and not going to read the whole thread for this. Has anyone in this thread fabricated their own resonated midpipe with a non-resonated midpipe with the BHR resonator?

pdxhak 11-10-2010 08:37 PM

Yes. Nemesis8 uses BHR res and davesport CAT.

Sweet! Welcome to the midpipe club ;)

RotaryMachineRx 11-11-2010 11:28 AM

I gotta say... I havent hit WOT yet because I'm waiting for my turbo tune from MM, but with around 40% throttle the BHR midpipe has not changed the sound of my catback at all... it still sounds the way it did before; which is why I bought the catback in the first place except it is a little bit louder now... extremely happy with the purchase and I can only expect it to still be great once I rock some WOT; from what I have been reading
